I was sitting in the pocket on the fence when hampson
took that grab in the square. He looked solid. Massive unit.
I was really impressed with his game and the way he conducted himself.
Good to see manton's number back in the full effect.

Hopefully he can keep it up.

go blues.!

Really liked what he showed in round 22 against the demons last year and thought he was great this evening. He is a hard man to beat in a marking contest when he uses that leap, and it was nice to see him kick 2 goals straight to make his chances count.

Go the Hammer !

Whatever happened to the cardinal rule that the ruckman handball off to a running player when in possession in the backline?

Stupid switch of play that cost us a goal.

Good point, that. It was a terrible mistake & is the sort of mistake that can change the whole tempo of a game. Unfortunately no running player presented themself to Cloke & after waiting as long as he could for someone to present short, he was left with no option but to go long (which is totally against Ratten's game plan). That was one thing Campo was good at, running behind or beside the ruckmen to take the handball. I think with a few more games under his belt, Stevens will start presenting himself in these situations.

I immediately thought of Campo's hard running to clear the back half after that mistake. :)

Hopefully the likes of Armfield, Simpson, Pfeiffer, Grigg and Bower are there to present as an option and clear the backline when Judd, Hadley and Walker move into the midfield.

Unfortunately Parrot, i think Ackland will get a few games to fill in a bit of experience. Our young rucks in Cloke, Hampson and Krueze might get a bit battered by the end of the season. You know what young talls are like.

Please don't mention the A word. If Hackland gets a run I'll tear my membership up.

he and waitey have the best vertical leap, i think in about 3 years time when kruzer is up and going the ruck combo of hampson and kruzer could be the best in the afl

Cloke has a major problem with not being able to short pass by foot, he kicks long to a contest most of the time.

If he wants to become a good AFL player he needs to dish off by hand or learn to shortpass.

Hampson nearly ran down one of Port's midfielders which is unbelievable for a man his size.

He'll become one of the most exciting talents in the game if he continues to develop at this rate.

Shaun nearly killed himself when he ran back with the flight like a Riewoldt or Brown and nearly marked it, but brought the ball to ground to create a crumb for our rovers.

How many defenders could go with Hampson on the lead and match his leap?

Great hands.

Two goals is a great return for a ruckman and he's an accurate kick from 40 metres as we saw against Melbourne and Port.

We need to sign him up ASAP if the AFL are planning to introduce another Queensland team.

That
is a fair point.

i loved his game. the goal to seal the game in the last 1/4 from a bit of a way out showed the lad has a cool head. he already has ackland covered in that aspect, so with his leap, agility and strong hands. pencil him in for round 1.

Brogans you mean?

Good mark despite the free kick.........Brogan, despite getting some hitouts was clearly worried by Hampson.

All he needs to do is learn to "tap" instead of SLAM the ball down......and he will be a star.

I suppose its too late to get $67 on him for the rising star.:(

Which explains why Brogan and Port gave away five free kicks to Hampson who was jumping over him and straight at the ball.

That's if Hammer got a decent bounce that didn't favour Brogan.

Hammer is going to win a lot of frees this year as opposition ruckman that cant match his leap try to use their strength advantage and body him unfairly.

It looks like this kid has become just about the most popular player at Carlton with the fans.:thumbsu:
