Hampson...

Sound very confident you do to call fellow posters idiots because you do not agree with them.

Hampson looks lost and is still learning the basics of the game. He has shown little for the Bullants apart from potential. Jacobs is well ahead of him because Jacobs is a natural player who understands the game. It is a great shame that Jacobs has not got a well deserved seniors birth. It is Jacobs who gets in the best more often than Hampson.

It is okay to question Hampson's development without being jumped on by fellow supporters. He has a long way to go and the match committtee know it.

This kid is an athletic freak and the last time I witnessed something comparable was a 17 year old kid by the name of Kouta playing his first practice game in Rosebud. Lots of similarities there. Kouta had no idea about the game and went through a steep learning curve but you knew he was special, just needed to be patient.

So at this stage he is a dumb footballer due to having switched codes late but will be something special. It is for this reason we picked him ahead of his team mate and fellow ruckman who was Queensland's first choice in the under 18's in Brent Renouf. Excellent pick at 17 by Wayne Hughes.

I would prefer he be given maximum game time for the Bullants whilst Jacobs gets a chance.

I would have to agree with you 100 % great post.

Im not having a go at hammo , but he seems unable to mark ? anyone know why seing he came from a basketball background ... and you almost have to make sure you dont drop the ball in that sport. once again no criticism. just an observation and i cant get my head around the fact he cannot mark the ball uncontested?

A basketball is much easier to catch than a football, it's round and travels at a shorter distance and slower velovity. Any way he is a mobile athlete and project player.

And a golf ball is much harder to catch, because it's small and moves really fast.

Relevence, your honour?

Pretty sure he has a soccer background. Must have been a bit of a Josh Kennedy type.

Whilst he may be super athletic, this does not necessarily mean he the ability to match it at AFL level (the name Ian Prendergast springs to mind). If Jacobs is getting more of the ball, then clearly he should be given more opportunities at senior level.

Havent seen much of Jacobs in the Bullants though - is he getting much of the ball?

People in general expect too much young players - happens time and time again. Hampson's not going to run around and pick up 15-20 touches, win 70% of the hitouts and dominate around the ground at this stage in his career - it's just not going to happen, and it isn't what the club is expecting. He is a second year ruckman new to the game; personally, I think he's shown a lot of promise since he's been back in the side and looks much better than he did earlier in the season. With a player like Hammer, the good things he does aren't always obvious but they're there - be in a competitive nature in the ruck, showing courage around the ground or using his pace and athleticism to advantage. I like the look of the kid, and given time, he and Kreuzer could make a formidable ruck combination.

Hammo in the forward line?

Yep. Once his confidence is up he will make a hell of a Ruck/forward. Very hard to match up on, not a bad kick.:thumbsu:
