I watched the game against the Doggies last night. The commentators, Glen Jakovich in particular, made reference to the fact that Lynchy seems a lot more comfortable kicking from 50 or more than he is from 30m or less. Hansen is a very accurate kick from anywhere, he slotted that beauty from the right pocket in the first quarter.

I was thinking maybe it might be worth swapping the 2 around. Lynch is mobile for a big man, we've seen him get up the field alot this year already. Leave Hansen one out in the 50, and let him lead up like he does now.

Thoughts?

PS: It might also create a slot for Mitch Brown to come in as another lead up HF. He seems abit more mobile than Hansen. Who would go out is anyone's guess tho...

Hansen's improved contested marking makes this a real possibility, where it wouldn't have been last year. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree ("Hansen is important for our structure/straightens us up etc.") but I reckon Lynch would be (and has been) very valuable up the ground with Hansen playing out of the square. Consider me in agreement with you.

I think Hansen is better playing from CHF where he has more room to lead rather than having to attempt to mark all the bombs that come in and operate in a phone box like is often the case in our forward 50. Thats not to say Lynch isnt suited to playing further up the ground.
Hunter would be a next best choice for FF (after Lynch) when not required in the backline.

Thing is, I cant see Hansen shrugging off his opponent like Lynch can do. This is vital for a FF, as our delivery into the 50 isn't always to a leading player. If our delivery was impeccable then yes, I'd say its a good idea.

lynchy is playing like a monster...... its only a matter of time till he gets over his kicking yips and kicks a bag of 6 or 7 >,>

seeing how lynchy dominates with his strength in the goal square in one on one situations.... he reads the ball off the air really well.

he is suited to the FF role but as others have mentioned..... he gets plenty of ball upfield anyways.....so woosha obviously has a gameplan to keep him in the midst of the action.

eg: rotating players like hunter, panda and coxy for attacking roles inside 50.

Would love to see LeCras take some more marks in the 50 too, seems like a very good and accurate kick.

Are these yips general kicking yips though, or are we simply taking too many marks in difficult positions to kick from. Most of the shots I can think of from Lynch have been from 50 out, on 45 degree or worse angles.

We had a period a couple of years ago where we were going too wide all the time and not converting our dominance of general play. Hansen straightened us up. Is the current forward set up resulting in Hansen going too wide and the next kick to Lynch being too wide as well or vice versa depending on who is the lead up?

The thing is he slots those shots and misses the ones from 20m out!
