Hardwick

Absolute load of bullshit.

Nahas, King, Rance, White, Edwards heck even Graham has developed under Hardwick, the day Dimma walked through the doors at Punt Road he said that he should be judged on not how our top Draft Picks develop, but how he develops the fringe players already at his disposal.

And if we are to judge him on the development of players who many Tiger Supporters had already put a line through, then I'd say he's already got a pass mark.

And as to the bolded part, what the heck does that even mean.

And are you trying to say Astbury is a dud?

Does it mean we took the lower cost option, does it mean our board which is made up of bean counters and pointy heads, elected to go with a fellow bean counter ? maybe so, hope not

No, not saying Astbury is a dud, he's just playing like a dud, but keeps getting games, and that smacks of a coach talking himself into playing players he wants, not playing his best options in the guise of development.
What if, half way through next year, Astbury hasn't improved,( and he won't) what if Griff has done his shoulder again, or doesn't live up to all his "Astbury like" dribble hype, Thursty is gone, Gourdis is gone, Morton is gone and Post has had next to no game time or is also gone, McGaune has suspect hips, Moore is now suspect and Rance's attack on the ball is sometime suicidal, but Hardwick has put all his eggs in the "I only want these players" basket, thats not development thats another bullshit 5 year plan and another DUD COACH, and we start the round about again

LOL....I've never read more dribble in my life....:p

GO TIGES!!!

.........Can't please everyone i guess..

I think Hardwick is going about it the right way FWIW. Getting games into the kids is more important at this stage.
Ours is a list that doesn't have a lot of depth and there is a long way to go before there will be players who are truly unlucky not to be playing more AFL games in our team.

Astbury played the first 4 games, then went to back coburg to work on his deficiencies. 6 weeks later he earned a recall, yet he "keeps getting games"? how the **** do you draw that conclusion?

Averaged 6 possessions a game in those first 4 games, (was horrific)went back to Coburg and averaged 11 possesions, most of which had absolutley no influence on the game
Astbury has a lot of pluses, unfortunately, at this stage, one of them is not finding the football
Im not being ante Astbury, I hope comes on, this is about Hardwicks blinkered faith.
We are already 4 un-injured senior players down, Morton,Thursfield, Gourdis and Taylor, regarless of form will not play for Richmond again, because they are not in Hardwicks plan, sorry dont call that development

where do you get the notion that morton will not play again regardless of form. He has only just come back from leave for personal reasons and his form was way below average before hand.

Taylor has effed off. hardly anything to do with some supposed preconceived idea of the coach.

Thursfield knew last year he was way down the pecking order and has had some injury problems this year.

Gourdis definelty seems to be on the outer. but for what reason?

some pre conception from the coach? It's possible.

or could it be he does not work hard enough or follow team rules? more likely.

right from day dot these have been the cornerstone of selection, regardless of talent, which is why we saw players playing seniors early last year ahead of more talented blokes running around for coburg.

and FWIW i dont believe astbury would have got a game if not for the injuries to our backmen, but if you would read the coaches coburg reports you would see that they were happy enough with what astbury was doing at coburg. he was sent back to work on certain aspects and it seems he was doing so.

Young guys getting games (they probably don't really deserve) to develop them. He is coaching for 2-3 years from now. What we are seeing in TV, Cotch etc is simply getting older, bigger and more experienced. But they are being played to a system. Whether it will all work is another thing. But we will lose matches we might have won under Dimma because he is trying to build a team for 2013-15 on.

That's right - we have to play those we believe are promising in order to develop them. If we were to go for this "best 22" nonsense, we'd still be playing guys like Joel Bowden and Greg Tivendale.
