We need an INDEPENDENT review of the club not one conducted by Benny & a few mates.
Let's get serious.

We get independent reviews of the club every five minutes on the Richmond BF board, on every other team's board, on the MB and in the media.
Who do you recommend for this serious independent review?

Let's begin with an expert in all the areas that are deficient ie. Recruitment, player development, strategic planning.
The only areas that seem to be going ok are finance & marketing.
That would be a reasonable start.
Some the 'inside' info I hear is startling.
The clubs going places view their footy dept as part of the structure - all be it, an important part.
There is a healthy balance in terms of focus.

Posted this in gameday, but might as well put it here.

2013, 2014 & 2015

It was as close as possible for everything going right for us. We had no major injuries to key players (I.e. Deledio, Rance, Cotchin, Martin, Maric, Ellis etc.). Only really Shane Edwards who has been unlucky with injuries and Chris Knights (who was awesome every time he he played for us and important given our lack of a mid sized forward, but was really a bonus anyway and was known to be injury prone prior to that even if his subsequent injuries were incidental and unrelated).

Our injuries have all been to our potential best 22's (e.g. Astbury, Grimes, Conca), guys should have been pushing out hacks like Chaplin and Morris. We have no depth and the injuries to our development players have meant our players next in line lack AFL game experience. Only a couple have really slotted in nicely, Lloyd and Miles.

We just won't kick high enough of a score, plain and simple. When Hardwick first came to the club we had no defensive mindset whatsoever. He frequently said that it was our area of improvement and to his credit, he built our defence and gameplan so that on average we keep teams to a lower than average score, similar to Ross Lyon's style of coaching.

In 2015 we averaged +2-3 goals over our opponent, which was actually 3rd best in the competition equal with Sydney, but way behind West Coast (+4 to 5 goals over opponent) and Hawthorn (+6 to 7 goals over opponent). West Coast however if you recall their long period of inaccuracy in front of goal, they averaged 4 behinds more than their opponent, with all other sides averaging between 1.5 more or -2.8 less behinds than their opponent.

So basically West Coast and Hawthorn were the clear leaders in scoring shots over their opponents.

But for Richmond the damning statistic is in the average goals per game. Even though we were ranked equal 3rd in goals over our opponent, our average goals per game was 12.8, ranked 11th, behind poor performing teams like Carlton and Gold Coast. This shows how solid our defense was last year along with our ability to control possession and keep the game to a low total score.

But, when a team can kick 100 points against us then we will lose. We only conceded 100 points on 3 occasions last year.
  • North Melbourne - Round 6, score 109-74 (Loss)
  • North Melbourne - Elimination final, score 108 - 88 (Loss)
The only exception was our win against Collingwood earlier in the year 105-100 against an undermanned Collingwood defence.
No other team scored 100 points against us in 2015 including Hawthorn and West Coast.

The 2013 elimination final we lost to Carlton in similar circumstances, 116-96. Port belted us in 2014, but under the same concept of a full throttle attacking game style.

We are left with an outdated game plan and not sure which direction the club will go from here. I like that Hardwick has taken us from a directionless and losing team to a 15-7 record and 3 finals, but I also think his game day coaching is poor as shown by our finals losses. Christ, for the last 2 weeks Troy Chaplin has been playing forward at various stages and last week Dustin Martin was playing on Eddie Betts in defence. If that happened in round 20 we would be accused of tanking.

Big mistake should have waited until the end the season first.

Don't worry we got the cash to pay him out. Now it's time for Peggy, Benny and the board to address this woeful coach(and his staff)
now before he completely destroys our players by playing them out of position with no game plan and no onfield leadership.

Oh look, another thread for the Dimma haters, TI should be here any tick of the clock.
I agree i can only argue in one lol all this has and been discussed in the sack thread.

And you do LOL, good at sinking the boots in dude but shithouse at offering up a solution.
No what he is doing is giving facts it's up to you to fix things up but typical you don't have any idea how to fix it so you resume your campaign on other posters amazing. Now i know what a campaigner is thanks.

First thing they should do is resign.

everyone calls to sack the bloke with no alternative. I'll back the coach unless there's a better alternative ill give you a ******* hint. THERE ISNT ONE!

He's playing the kids instead of Morris et al who would make us "competitive" for the short term yet leave us in even worse shape. We cant win a ******* final with them let alone a premiership so im happy to throw the kids in and prepare longer term
So why all off a sudden he has decided to play kids? Is it because he knows he is a fAILURE? But a brilliant liar that can consistently make up things as he strings all along? Ohh look we have so many kids playing we take steps back to gop forward. Amazing. My question to you is are you so happy i mean really?

so you want more kids in the team? great lets break Fitzroys Record!

we need a number of senior bodies around the contest as much as we might hate who we have to have
You mean the senior bodies we have recruited to get us to the amazing grace? Well it looks like those bodies are getting older by the day and won't be around much longer. Ohhh no the way we are travelling we just might beat that record after all.
But don't worry we are a stable club lot's of love and togetherness. In fact we are so stable our results indicate that we are back as we were 7 years ago.

Board should have just let the year play out not extended , stupid decision IMO .
Can only speculate,But an agreement reached that if we don't make and win a final at least this year a sacking clause can be activated. It seems to be the only logic behind re-signing Dimma. To take the pressure off him from an outside prospective.

We did this with Sando apparently. PR re-signing without financial implications.

Anyway, Lade is thought of as having a great football brain. IF Dimma was sacked, would people be happy with him as an interim/prospective coach?

We are so easy to coach against it's not funny. We have some talent and it's getting wasted. They've turned them into robots, once something doesn't go the way it's supposed to go with whatever the hell the gameplan is they malfunction.

Well the only solution imo is for Peggy and Benny to do a complete audit on the club, coaches, recruiters, assistants, the lot. I think the players should be left out of it atm.
This is where you earn your money Peggy otherwise we might as well have Clive Palmer as president lmao. Then when we get all that sorted the new coach and assistants can deal with the playing group, and start working towards a premiership. I no longer think Dimma can take us anywhere now and defending him is like flogging a dead horse.

Don't know.At this point we might as well appoint Humphrey B Bear as the message whatever that is isn't getting through.Do we keep dimma and knowing that the situation is untenable but with one eye on the draft or do we sack him and have a newish voice and win a few meaningless games.Thats the question.
