Yeah for what its worth i hope he stays over in WA. Huge hypocrisy from a supporter of a Vic club i know but i have huge respect for players sticking it out interstate for their entire careers. Unless he wants to come to the Pies then ill change my opinion like a flog

So 28 years since Essendons last final win and winning the next flag?
Why would Harley go there and wait 8 years to contend?
I would be very extremely sceptical of any coach saying they need 8 years to contend and win a flag. That is starting from ground zero in a rebuild. Is Essendon starting at ground zero?

They are at ground zero. They absolutely butchered the last 5 drafts worse than anyone in the league. A ton of assets and bugger all to show for it

Everyone knows coaches don't even last 3 years on average at Essendon so I wouldn't worry too much about what Bard says. But if that's true, your rebuild is likely to take at least 16 years in comparison.
As to why Reid might want to come to Essendon, read my previous post (10 wins in three seasons for the eagles and an aging list etc.)
And no, not starting at ground zero. We got 11 wins, 1 draw with a fairly young list with plenty of upside.

The 11 wins is the problem as opppsed to a good thing. This squad has little improvement left in it. Caddy in but gotta replace your best forward which is rough.
There just isn’t enough coming through. It’s the worst list of talls in the league. Ben McKay only one of AFL quality. Jones/Wright VFL level and Z.Reid hasn’t shown anything. I don’t think Reid is the fix or the problem. Having the worst set of KPPs is the problem. Gotta fix that well before you worry about Reid

You clearly didn't know this, but half the Eagles list is 21 or under.
They're at an age where they're not quite ready push out the older elite players who aren't quite finished yet.
Obviously the bnf is going to be full of the older guys
Essendon's 20+ year rebuild is the outlier, not the norm.
WCE have turned over more than half the list in the past 3 seasons and will likely be pushing for finals within 4.
If Harley wants every September off for the rest of his career, then yes, Essendon would be the smart choice for him.
He'll be guaranteed to keep that Spring Carnival ambassadorship for sure.

Hobbs didn't leave, Tsatas isn't being traded and Parish should have been but wasn't.
Reid, Durham Caldwell and Tsatas feeding it out to Merrett and Martin would be perfect! I am happy to trade 3x1st rounders to make it happen.
The 40+ goal forward provided no forward pressure. I would rather someone kicking half that and having a defensive bone.
If we get more from injured players such as Ridley, Reid etc. and natural improvement from the kids, we could easily triple your wins next season, instead of over double.
If Reid requests a trade to anyone, I look forward to the Eagles spending more time in the bottom four than North did.
None of those guys have shown they're of any value to you in the future but time will tell I guess.

Asking a lot for you next string to kick more than 20 goals(only Langford managed that last season, other than Stringer) although Caddy should perform well as a lone hand up forward.

If Reid left, we'd have a massive draft haul which would finish off our rebuild completely, and earlier too I might add.
Meanwhile, if he ended up at Essendon, they'd be shafting themselves of filling out their list needs. They're already missing the 8 and made their team actively worse last offseason. Trading the farm at the end of the year would just be peak Essendon.

Only feeding it out Tsatas will be doing is from McDonalds in his new job after his delisting. Guy will be delisted in 2025 and paid to leave I think. Hobbs is miles ahead

The thing is Harley was as foolproof as they come. The trouble is if that's not the case, you could end up getting Cox, or Ginbey or Hewett.
Why?
We can trade for Warner ourselves. Why would we give up Reid when it's likely Warner coming to WCE would make Reid more inclined to stay?

Reid is worth a decent bit more than Warner, but regardless Warner choosing west coast is likely to incentivise Reid to stay.
Not like he's likely to leave anyway but Warner would help

Hobbs and Tsatas are still developing, it's not like we rely on them. Having two players turning 31/32 as your best mids is far more worrying. (kelly, yeo)

Kako looks pretty advanced for a kid too, but wont play every game.We don't have as many holes as you think. Especially with Reid, the main needs would be a key forward, one more small forward and a key defender IF Zach Reid can't get over his injuries. Harley is the perfect fit for our midfield, and thanks to getting Kako as a NGA one of our extra first round picks is almost like a bonus, so I am happy to trade our picks out for Reid.
Tsatas ceiling is way higher than Hobbs. He was injured his first season, has only played 11 games and looks to be one of the stand outs this pre season. Are you writing off Ginbey, Hewett and Chesser already? I do prefer KFC so maybe one of those three will be serving me a zinger combo one of these days.

Out of the 5 first rounders I named Tsatas is clearly the worst. Cox is 2nd best and you ragged on him which says so much
