the idea for the point system was from another forum i visit where its quite popular! or if you ment general idea for the comp it was because i want to settle once for all who is the best tipster!
ps i realy want stressless to join lol it will be a battle of popular alm/gammalite proportions between him and DM!

yer im leaning towards A personally but am just worried about the others.

you might only be able to pick out 3 at a given meeting and the chance to use another meeting could be useful, or for those that live in QLD or WA ie Danger Mouse (i think)

and yeh the points system doesnt let a blowout $20Win shot get right out in front like haywood_jablome is in the spring comp (or whatever he had).

That was my point with this system, $20 on a $25 winner would put most of us to the sword, but the points system should keep it a lot more interesting.
If you like the favs you can consistently score points, but the lure of something around 10-1 can get you good points even for the place.

Anyway whatever goes goes.

he actually lives here i think....just dosnt like the form down here or sumthin.

anyway...look...will u do all the adding up and shit or will i...what happens there...because i think i might be outnumbered so we might as well go A

"just dosnt like the form down here or sumthin" :D

PM will be on its way to chief faster then BAF can run!

Lads,
I'm not fussed what system we use. Just as long it is user friendly, and it all stays on a good and friendly level.
Reckon we might even get a few from Inside Rail visit us;)

When do we kick off the trial run:)

that could be interesting. the big "metropolitan class" boys at insiderail coming to our home track on the country curciut and taking on the footyheads!

a BIGGGG thankyou goes out to Brooklyn :)

Oh sorry, trial run tommorow.
Will post a new thread advertising trial run shortly and the rules that I/we have reluctantly agreed on!

EDIT: Brooklyn gave in on the point system, I think it may be fair I give in on the free choice meetings and make it exempt to one meeting per weekend that will most likely be Moonee Valley

ahh yes you do indeed! but fun-ness and interest in the comp fades dramatically.

Exactly........I did the results for Pro Punter last week for the Spring Comp, and already 40 people seemed to have dropped off, as they have not entered for a couple of weeks now........only 68 out of 108 entries seem to be still going, and you can bet it is because a couple of blokes have found big priced winners. For that comp, good luck to them as there is some good prizes on offer, but this one is all for fun I thought.

You will still get rewarded for your 25-1 pop, but your lead will not be unassailable.

How would it go if the weekly 'lowest points scorer' gets to choose the meeting for the following week. yes/no?
sounsd good...but really the only meetings u could pick from are mv and bris because they are by farrrrrr the better horses and the interest is greater...i think that is a great idea...or we could swap between them each week??

i reckon this is a good idea

MV/Vic schedule: Major Races Outside Vic that weekend
11Oct featuring Sokyola Sprint Gold Coast Cup
No MV. 18Oct Nyah feat Nyah Cup Queensland Pacing Championship
No MV. SUNDAY 26Oct Kilmore feat Kilmore Cup Trans Tasman
1Nov feat Despearate Comment FFA
8Nov feat Legends Mile
15Nov feat Chris Howe Trotters Cup Newcastle Mile
22Nov feat MHRC Classic Ladyship Mile
NO MV. 29Nov Cranbourne feat Cranbourne Cup Miracle Mile (good meet)
6Dec feat Casey Classic Treuer Memorial
13Dec feat a couple good races
20Dec feat Vic Cup plus a few

With the swap each week idea I think thats great! We would have to incorporate Sydney in with Miracle Mile.
This is what it could look like:
11Oct Vic
18Oct QLD
25Oct QLD
1Nov QLD
8Nov Vic
15Nov QLD
22Nov Syd
29Nov Syd
6Dec Syd
13Dec Vic
20Dec Vic - Final Week

yeh maybe that or just pick 5 each for both meets.....lets see what carltonblue comes up when he puts all our suggestions into his 'whiz-bang competition making machine'!!!

Good luck CB!

anyone else still online lol ? will post a temporary trial day thread soon. temporary as some rules still iffy.
the above incorporates 4QLD, 4VIC, 3NSW i think thats the go if we are going to alternate.

Problem is i think the majority on this board only know Victorian form. It's fine for me and Brooklyn as we follow every state but most don't. So even though the above ideas are great, the reality is it probably wouldn't be as fun for most candidates. So in my opinion, just stick to MV. Whatever you guys end up doing, cool. I'm happy no matter what.

Night fellas

Jasper would be keen to join the comp if you have a free spot.

However, he is dissapointed in the ''dogging'' of Western Australia.

This probably raises the point of maybe betting wherever you like....as long as you stick to the general rules and have your bets all locked away by say, 6.00pm (est) on a Friday evening. That way everyone can bet with their 'strengths of knowledge'.

yep jasper definately throws it outta whack!
a perth boy shouldnt have to be judged on his eastern states tipping, thats like miss andretti being judged on her ability to run out the 2miles!
