Harness Tips

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I'm with you in the next race.

I'm shattered I only just seen this thread, i love the harness.

Our Lexus Lad was amazing last start for mine when it came around them 6 wide.

Should win here for mine..

Woodlea Glenn at odds also a good chance.

I'll take Our Lexus Lad for the win though.

That run of Our Lexus Lad is the best run i have seen from any horse since Be Good Jonny won the trans tasman and Luckie Elsie ran third after losing 150m at Newcastle. You just don't get that close from that position, that wide in that split. I'll headbutt the wall if he loses! :)

A smokey here if hes driven absolutely correctly is White Eye Markei. If the driver circles then leads without doing to much work, this horse can rip home very fast. Be interesting anyway to see how this race pans out. Just dont have a crystal ball to know what these drivers will do.

Will headbutts the wall now. 3 wide throughout and nailed right on the line, i just can't get the breaks and the mug layers live to fight another day. :(

Dissapointing? He covered more ground then the early explorers while Woodlea Glenn is buried doing no work.... i hate this game sometimes!

I'll writeup the first 5 races and explain why the leader won to show why the punters are so way off sometimes.

Race 1 - Absolutely nothing between Torbello, Ex Are Six, The Market Minor, Gold Pay. One starts ******* odds because of the draw. The other 3 go around cricket score odds. Torbello absolutely crawled to the corner, sprint home, still lost. If the speed was normal, the latter 3 would of ran the trifecta.

Race 2 - Jack and Simon walked to the corner, sprinted home. If the speed was genuine, hes suspect but he got the good run in front, held them easy. Started longs odds on.

Race 3 - Nothing between All Our Lad, Stage Coach Kid, Rising Stature and even Darkwing. Punters back Arnies A Fake, not a chance in hell, can not sprint fast enough. Lead split was blinding in 37. Turing wins because he stayed out of it, then took the death seat when they backed it off. The other main players shuffled back or worked to hard in the early sprint.

Race 4 - Sunrain, Abercrombie Dexter, crawl at rediculous slow speed to the corner, just dash up the straight, nothing made ground. Last quarter must have been pretty neat. Truely run race, the first 3 would drop out.

Race 5 - Our Lexus Lad stuck 3 wide in fast time the entire trip, strikes the lead then gets nailed by Woodlea Glenn doing no work.

Its okay though, i'm not betting, but every single race there excluding Jack and Simon who prolly wins any which way went absolutely perfect for the winner. 90% of races are about who gets the right breaks.

Look at Weekend Hussler today, crawled in front, dashed home. Everyones like wooer what a run! What i saw is, Light Fantastic sucks and the stayers who sat miles out of there ground finished like rockets late but had NO CHANCE because its a walk, sprint. Truely run and maybe Littorio causes one of the biggest upsets ever seen but the race was never going to pan out like that.

Race 6 - Redcourt at long, long odds on walks in front but cant sprint fast enough anyway. Jaylock Vinny my selection from last in a blitz down the straight runs third, moral beaten. Again no breaks.

No detail, everything i like is solely on closing sectionals. Not deviating from that under any circumstance. A * means it's a standout on times. If i find horses with the same times, i will always choose the longshot over the favourite.

Race 1 - The Market Minor
Race 2 - Jack and Simon*
Race 3 - Rising Stature/Stage Coach Kid
Race 4 - King Galvinator/Lulu Nitro
Race 5 - Our Lexus Lad************************************* x10 - Oh man, i just have to explain this one, was spotting the leaders aroun 20m on the corner. 6 wide off the track in a 28.4 split, got beat 2m. Must of reeled off a 27.0 split 6 wide! That run would be the equal of something Blacks A Fake would do!
Race 6 - Jaylock Vinny*
Race 7 - Classic Hero/Hal Thomas
Race 8 - Hayden John/Whatever You Like
Race 9 - Visions of Clancy*
Race 10 - Cool Jasper/Deal Us In

Well this went semi okay even though it was still a big losing night.

Now that i have the sectionals i can go into detail. As iv'e said in the past if this bores anyone, i'll stop these writeups.

Race 1 - Walk to the 400, sprint affair. I had Torbello, Ex Are Six, The Market Minor and Gold Pay running the same time. Gold Pay got the best of the draws as the other 2 drew wide and had to be eased back. As it worked out, XAS, GP and TMM followed each other in the 3 wide line from the 400. Gold Pay must have reeled off a 27.7 split but was giving the leader only 6m start, the key to him winning. Ex are Six got within a half head, reeled off a 27.5 and TMM held his ground behind in 27.5. Strong form race that. The first 8 across the track will all be winning very soon.

The Market Minor 7th beaten 4m. Best runs were Gold Pay, Ex Are Six, The Market Minor.

Race 2 - Jack and Simon walked in front, home in 28.2. I actually think that was slightly dissapointing, he should of broke 28. Walker Park was just as good, sat in death, held his ground to the line as was Rapid Crusader who sat 3 wide throughout just behind him.

Jack and Simon won. Best runs JAS, Walker Park and Rapid Crusader.

Race 3 - Lead time was 36.9 which effectively killed off Arnies A Fake, Stage Coach Kid and Highflyin Fella. Sectionals after that were not strong, home in 28.4. Turing did his job. All Our Lad ran a shocker, terrible effort. Rest had no excuses except Rising Stature who went to the line hard held holding his spot, never saw daylight.

Stage Coach Kid third beaten 5m/Rising Stature 9th beaten 10m. Best runs were Turing, Stage Coach Kid and Rising Stature.

Race 4 - crawl to the corner, dash up the straight in 28.2. All honours with the winner Abercrombie Morgan, rest had every chance. My selections Lulu Nitro went pretty average and King Galvinator had no hope from last position, forget he went around.

Lulu Nitro 6th beaten 11m, King Galvinator 8th beaten 15m. Best run was Abercrombie Morgan.

Race 5 - Our Lexus Lad caught 3 wide the entire trip, beaten a head a 1.57.9, 28.9 by Woodlea Glenn. Closing sectional was weak for this grade, WG still spotting him around 14m so still broke 28 on the way home. If OLL was driven to sit, sprint, he wins that by a space.

Our Lexus Lad 2nd beaten a head. Best runs were Our Lexus Lad and Woodlea Glenn.

Race 6 - Walk, sprint affair once again. Redcourt overun but not dissapointing because he is a claimer in 28.3 The Twister improved lengths to win this, must of went 27.9 from the perfect spot, 1-1. Nickys Falcon went around 27.7 and Jaylock Vinny went around 27.5. Nothing between those 3 on the line. Me and Jim went around 27.9 as well.

Jaylock Vinny third beaten a neck. Best run was Jaylock Vinny and Nickys Falcon.

Race 7 - Slow overall time, Luke Breeze got around to the death cheaply, then took the lead without doing much work, home in 28.6. Hal Thomas spotting the leader 20-24m 6 wide, ran around 27.5, absolutely no luck. Classic Hero went poor.

Hal Thomas 3rd beaten 7m, Classic Hero 7th beaten 21m. Best run Hal Thomas

Race 8 - Leaders rolled along the whole way, good mile rate, Whatever You Like from the 40m handicap worked up 3 wide over them and won well. Hayden John Galloped at the start and was beaten by panels.

Whatever You Like won, Hayden John beaten 80m. Best run Whatever You Like

Race 9 - Solid mile rate throughout, 1.57.9, home in 29.1. Visions of Clancy and Top Sheld Hanover hit it locked togeather. Rest were ordinary.

Visions of Clancy 2nd beaten a short half head. No best run.

Race 10 - Walk, sprint affair, home in 28.6. Everything weak behind the winner Cool Jasper.

Cool Jasper won, Deal Us In 6th beaten 16m. No best run.

I got to admit, the times play a huge role in the majority of races BUT you still DO need the barrier draw to go with it which pains me to say. Just to hard to come from miles back in a sprint home. Some of my selections tonight went huge but were spotting the leaders impossible starts. I guess in future, times + barrier will be required unfortunately.

Best runs of the entire night were for being tough!

1. Our Lexus Lad - Fantastic effort to still be there on the line.
2. Whatever You Like - Fantastic effort off the big handicap in good time.

Fastest runs of the night and this is a guesstimate,

Hal Thomas - 27.5
The Twister - 27.9
Nickys Falcon - 27.7
Jaylock Vinny - 27.5
Woodlea Glenn - 27.9
Me and Jim - 27.9
Gold Pay 27.7
Ex Are Six - 27.5
The Market Minor - 27.5

Best overall run tonight was Hal Thomas - No trail into the race, right off the track and did a massive job to finish so close.

Mate you are not boring anyone. I'm learning alot from this thread and if i can learn the tiniest thing in a massive write up i take that info as invaluable. Keep up the good work DM.

Heres some goss for you guys:

Top USA horse Mr Feelgood is on its way Down Under for the 2009 Inters and World Cup.

The Grinfromeartoear stallion has been purchased by Tim, Ant Butt and connections, from Premier Stables, Christchurch.

I'd say he would be the best credentialled American horse to come to the southern hemisphere.

Moonee Valley

Race 1 – The Cherokee Chief (When stevens gets his horses going they fly, and this is flying. A good sit sprinter who will take the trail and use the money lane to come home very fast, he won his M0 like this not long ago and will be hard to hold out at good odds.) (8th- Beaten only 8 meters and got dragged back on the turn when making some fair ground up in solid time. Follow from good draws)

Race 2 – Flash Teena (This horse should have won by panels last start when stepped away off 30, then galloped lost another 30 and circled them 3 wide and beaten 7 meters by the talented Delphi Rose, this horse also outstayed the promising conquer all 2 starts back when led, and even though its got gate 12, still may lead here, too good for this lot.) (1st - Put up an unbeleivable performance of trotting when led from gate 12 like predicted and when 28.4 down the back and went home in 29, 1st of 2 track records broken for the night)

Race 3 – Broadway Play (Beaten last start by superstar when they went 1:56.9 , 56.9 , 28.6, amazing sectionals and mile rate when beaten by a half neck when looking the winner 100 to go. Will either lead sit one one or behind the leader and if it eventuates will move up without cover which she loves to do, can do it from anywhere and is a good bet in any field.(9th - Amazingly bad drive and was never put in the race, this is the type of horse that needs to be taken 3 wide or to the death to be competitive, nice to see the pricks on Count De Lira try when there is a big price around)

Race 7 – Decorated Jasper (1:56.9 , 56.9 , 28.6….this speaks for itself, came from last, was never entitled to win but did anyway, rising start, who can knock off Cincinnati kid who went 1:57.1 , 57.7 , 29.4 3 starts back when coming off the pace..this is be an awesome race, but go with DJ because DM would kill me if I didn’t.) (1st - After the scratching of Cincinnati Kid i was tipping Advance Attack at a blowout price, but he just failed by a half neck, another 1.56 mile rate by this horse, budding star!)

Harold Park

Race 5 - The Maelstrom (A very consistent horse, does not have the times on the board up against Cosmic Under Fire, and will get headed after the start by most likely him or Dash Of Class, if he sits in behind the leader he will run all over the top, good each way bet) (Late Scratching)

Gloucester Park

Race 3 – Jacobs Well (who ever thought we would see this horse in a claimer, will race with a sit and demoralizer should lead, but this horse has a fair bit of class on his rivals, should be winning) (2nd - Demoralizer simply too good)

Race 4 – Beena Buster (This horse is flying, can do it tough without cover and I will never forget its effort when it sat outside glencadam and beat him, he should move up without cover and be too good.) (10th - Drew to wide over a mile and never got into the race, stupid selection)

Race 5 - Spirit of Shard (Absolutely began like lightening last start off 50 when first up for G.Hall and was too good for a weak field…this horse flys when drivin with a sit and may just be rushing over the top at the end, but since he is an ex-victorian, should be moving up without cover and winning anyway) (1st - Another ex-victorian who could be a star over in the west, played with this field form the breeze, an excellent stand start horse,

Race 6 – Glencadam – (Simply amazing last start, short and simple, will win) (1st - Too good)

Race 8 – Morganator – (Tough stayer who ran the race of his life last start which had to be seen to be believed, may be too good again, but will be tough off the 30, may lead though) (8th - Woodley never had time to put him into the race and got too far back)

Race 10 – Amongst Royalty (Can sit 3 wide and beat this field, sat 3 wide and ran 3rd beaten 4.1 meters by rising star and ex Victorian Choices who is a good thing at Harvey on Saturday night. Good Thing!!!)(1st - The horse with rockets on her heels wins again, too easy)

Best Bet - $50 all up Glencadam into Amongst Royalty. (1st - Got back a good $119 from this, easy money)

Best Each Way - The Mealstrom. (Late Scratching)

Best Value - Broadway Play.(9th - The value was Count De Lira, they only try when theres a price)

Although most of these were favourites I had a good night, backing Sundons Gift and Village Glow in the last, just nosed out on Julies Equity at big oods as well, overal, it was a pretty good night, with some outstanding display of trotting from our countries best.)

Race 7 - Bee Jay Gem (win) Monorama (lay) Mercurio (lay) Bee Jay Jem trailed the leader, pulled out 3 wide, hit the lead and got bloused right on the line by Benowa which must have ran a 26.5 split who came from last, UNREAL! / Mercurio and Monorama unplaced

So much better when you have a barrier to go with the times but i'll keep testing it as 3 races isn't a big enough sample. Benowa should be backed whenever he can strike a draw, that was a massive win, one of the best wins at Menangle since it opened.
