Xiles last 3 runs,

Sat 1-1, copped a slight check up the straight, finished hard in a 27.4 split.
Sat in the death, worked the leader the whole way, rated 1.59.5 over the 2100, he tired late beaten 12m
Sat in the death, this time didn't take on the leader, rated 2.01.0, home in 57.6 and i reckon after watching the replay he would of beat Heza Wonder even if he didn't gallop.

Hes drawn to follow out a quick beginner who won't lead cos Red Phoenix will, so he'll sit 1-1 again against far inferior opposition to what hes been facing. We know he can go a quick half if the driver takes it on easy on him.

Very confident but as Crank said, you probably should lay it cos the seconds just love me! :)

I think personally he is a 1.50 chance.

After watching these races today, gee it becomes really apparent just how important barrier draws are. Every single time my main danger settles in front of me, i lose and whenever i settle in front of my main danger i win.

I had Betapic but changed to Kidmen because he has a better sprint. Kidmen is driven upside down to get into the race but Betapic leads throughout. I just can't win!

Albion Park

Race 1 - Its Big Time Baby won, death seat, to good
Race 2 - St Maarten* won, led to good
Race 3 - Highview Pace second, sat last, ran on late
Race 4 - Top Shelf Hanover second, sat 1-1 but leader was to good
Race 5 - Cheers Robbie 4th, sat 1-1, struggled with the fast tempo
Race 6 - The Apprentice second, missed by an inch trailing the leader
Race 7 - Bossys Henry* won, led, to good
Race 8 - Xile*** 4th, sat 1-1, had his chance, shrug

Menangle

Race 1 - SoSoClassy unplaced, 3 and 4 wide off the track for over a lap, ******* drive
Race 2 - Our Mach Be Nimble* 4th, i was hoping he would lead but driver figured sit sprinting was a better option
Race 3 - Think Pink second, ran on, winner to good
Race 5 - Thrift* second, ran on after being held up
Race 6 - All the Rythm unplaced, sat in the death, just behind them
Race 7 - Kidmen 4th, driven upside down

14 selections
3 winners
5 seconds
4 fourths

Winners paid 5.50 1.80 15.30 = 22.60 for a decent win.

Barrier draws won the day again. I hate the facts barriers are more important then ability.

Just missed the quaddie, even had Bossys Henry one out, i think i'm good to have found that one out while everyone else missed it, haha! but I'm Hood Winked who i wouldn't pick in a million years put in a huge form reversal today to the point its fishy to win the other leg. Leaders were running, 28.3 off the back after running solid the whole way and he just pulls out 3 wide and launches at them.... On his previous runs you'd be right to think is that the same horse! Should of included Tuapeka Zeus though so i screwed up anyway.

... and Xile was dissapointing. Oh well, they are not machines. Hes a good horse but not today i guess... In fact, looking at the replay, how the hell does Our Hell Boy and Assault Corps run by him. Horses can be so inconsistant sometimes.

... and still not happy overall either. Such a hard game to get things done correctly! ... and trust me when i say, even though i won today, i'm still miles off.

Nice to see you upped the strike rate with the $15.30 winner.

Good work mate and keep at it. You are one of the few that do.

Thanks guys...

Now now that i have the sectionals i want to point out some good runs,

It's Big Time Baby from the death went 2.02.7 over the 2100, home in 29.8, lead time was 39.4 which beats most pacers. Shes in good enough form that she could take out a C0 C1 against the pacers if the field was average enough. She shows though, shes a leader/death horse so handicap stands do her no favours. I wish they'd put on more mobile races to be honest, better spectacle then 95% of trot races being stands.

I don't know how well you guys are connected but can someone confirm if St. Maarten really came out in 27.2!! 28.2 is believable but 27.2 for a horse at it's second start is unbelievable. That horse is something special if the first quarter is correct.

Depend On Davey went 1.58.7, home in 28.1 which would put him right up there with Turing for the same ability. Prehaps though he can only do that when leading. See the horse was always good, just took till today to find out hes best when in front. He also spaced some pretty nice horses there so that run was something special.

Tafetta Black went 1.57.0 neat over the mile, home in 28.3, fast all the way. Gee he can be hard to catch sometimes but that was a really good win right up to Saturday night claimers.

Bossys Henry proves to be an excellent on pacer. In fact i think this horse is pretty darn good wherever he positions especially in the lead/death though. Mile rate was pretty standard, 2.03.2 but the quarters were impressive enough. Went 31.7 31.5 29.5 28.0 so it wasn't like he walking. He pretty much brained some pretty nice types. His previous run when he sat outside Miller was outstanding in quick time, nothing else could even keep up and the horses trailing in the one wide line were well beaten yet he still stuck on beaten 2m. 15.00 was a gift yesterday. I knew Thats The Spirit has lost a few lengths, ever wonder why i stopped mentioning her and off the big handicap as well? No way!

People definately toss money away on a horses reputation ignoring its current form. Happens so often.

Karloo Mick saturday night. Sure they walked in front, but they went home in 26.9. That race told me two things. Brooklyn you are right. Make Me Smile is far quicker out then Jarendan but Special Albert is as fast out the gates as any horse in Australia. On top of this, Karloo Mick Wasn't dissapointing but i think he needs to drop slightly in class.

Back to Moonee Valley Friday night and we wont be back for a while so lets make it a good night.

Race 1 - Seymour Lights (Very honest performer who meets a good bunch here but if steps to the front will be hard to beat, can be driven with a sit, but would like to see him up there in the lead)

Race 2 - Flash Teena (Will be good odds, being drawn back and off 10 dosnt look good but will step well and hopefully will lead, she oozes class. Its great to see rising star Ronerail back who is off the pole but first up for light years and his times do not compare to Flash Teena)

Race 3 - Garstang (Will lead on its ear and every other chance is drawn very poorly, 2nd up and sure to improve and looks a good thing in the Battle of the Claimers)

Race 5 - Anvils A Coaster (Absolutly flys the gate and has been running time, will be great odds in what is a quality field but i think this is a quality horse, if he leads hes home)

Race 6 - Advance Attack (Just missed out in 1.56.3 last time out and should get the same run here, will be good odds again)

Race 7 - Village Warrior (Should lead then take a sit as usual, in what is the best M1-M2 race seen for some time he will be starting at large odds, in a field that contains, Genuine Star, Count De Lira, Veranjee and Julies Equity. the worry is what he will hand up to, whatever horse that is should take him to the sprint lane and he should win then, he could sprint off the back of a jet plane and win)

Gloucester Park

Race 5 - Franco The Man (Only and i repeat, only if he leads which he should off 10 and drawn out in the stand, if it leads it wins)

Race 6 - Amongst Royalty (The horse with rockets in her heals will need to be smartly driven here as it is going up in grade but i no she will handle it, she is one of my favorites and I am hoping she can take the next step up form mares grade)

Race 7 - Dartmoor (If he leads here and has glorified hack sitting outside him Glencadam then i think he can cause an upset, he should be over the odds here)

Race 9 - Spirit Of Shard (Another ex-Victorian doing well over in Perth, should be short and will be winning, flys from the stand)

Globe Derby

Race 2 - Glencoe Macdonald (its not often you will find me betting in a claiming pace at Adelaide as these horses are the pits of the world, but i've always followed this one and will go very close from the pole)

Best Bet - Village Warrior
Best Value - Dartmoor
Best Roughie - Seymour Lights

Oh yeah, lol... haha 2 in the second leg :)

By the way, on my current way of thinking i don't think there are any good things tonight so i'll take back the stars on everything.

Only one horse i'm really interesting on tonight is King Galvinator. If i'm right, he goes very close to winning. Time will tell.

Another thing i find interesting and again this is only if i'm right but i don't there are any bets tonight, nothing fills my criteria except in race 4 where George Sloy and King Galvinator both do it for me in a big way but how do you split them, one will lead, the other will follow? One will pay silly, the other will pay nice!

*shakes head*

King Galvinator is not a leader, spears out in 31 lead split then goes 31.5 30.6 30.0 ... last quarter didn't matter because that horse had run its race there. What an absolute ******* drive and George Sloy not leading, right... Nat and Grant talking pre race?

Sad race

I wish there was a tribunal in horse racing. Nat = 8 weeks! Grant = 2 weeks for talking pre race!

Redcliffe

Race 1 - Mark Stride unplaced, just behind them, bad selection. In fact it was a bad race to find the winner. Sure the favourite won but meh
Race 2 - Flying Casino* second, bungled the start, sat 1-1, got overun late, would have won clearly if led
Race 3 - Vicious Villain won, led, easy win
Race 4 - King Galvinator 4th, tried to lead throughout in quick time, ******* drive but the selection was right
Race 5 - Santuzza* won, led, bolted in
Race 6 - Mystical Kahu 4th, didn't lead then plugged to the line. Why wouldnt you try lead when clearly the horse needs to? idiot and last time i go for that horse unless he draws the pole or theres definate slow beginners underneath him.
Race 7 - Speed Biscuit won, sat second last, swept over them three wide
Race 8 - Sunrain* won, led bolted in

Quad races 4-7

1,2/2/1,2,4/1,2,7,8 = 24 dollars 1 unit

8 selections
4 winners
1 second
2 fourths

winners paid 3.60 1.50 15.30 1.70 = 22.10 for a good night

I also got the quaddie as well, edited the second leg to 2 which i posted afterwards before the quaddie began. Paid 91.60... Sad considering i found a 15.00 winner, almost found a 15.00 winner in the third leg as well, if that won it would of paid great, oh well, what can you do?

What i learned tonight

1. From what i said yesterday, it's all about settling in front of your main rivals.
2. Backmarkers have a chance ONLY when the leaders are questionable.
3. I'm sticking to mainly QLD from now on but i'll pick and chose the odd race from other states if i can find something good. I really really , really should just stick to QLD, its the best, cleanest harness racing in Australia and the horses rarely mix form. Kills the other states! Can't not follow Harold Park though on friday nights or the odd race in W,A. :)

The key to harness racing is pretty simple.

1. Find the main chances
2. Work out who settle closer to the lead
3. Back that horse!
4. If leaders are questionable or possible speed battle then
5. Back the next best horse

Do that and you will make money.

Gold Coast

Race 1 - Atoms Exit
Race 2 - Take Five Stella
Race 3 - Tri Laughing
Race 4 - Ricklands Girl
Race 5 - Tiger Island
Race 6 - So Suave*
Race 7 - Khan Ricciuto
Race 8 - Miss Bulle*

Quaddie races 4-7

1,2,3,8/1,4,8,9/4/1,6,7 = 48 dollars 1 unit

I think Miss Bulle is near certainty as well. I would be shellshocked if she couldn't run over these. Melton LumberMac and Redfern Boy have a tiny chance to knock her off.

Gold Coast

Race 1 - Atoms Exit second, death every chance
Race 2 - Take Five Stella won, led, to good
Race 3 - Tri Laughing second, after a speed battle early, took the trail, winner to good
Race 4 - Ricklands Girl second, indenticle to the previous race
Race 5 - Tiger Island retired from the race at the first corner when broke gear and then broke
Race 6 - So Suave* won, sat 1-1, swept over them, bolted in
Race 7 - Khan Ricciuto unplaced, got into a speed war with a donkey
Race 8 - Miss Bulle* 4th, sigh, circled to the death, every chance, quite dissapointing, really expected more. To lose to a piece of crap like Franco Enrico sums up my day.

Missed the quaddie in the last leg as well. Highbinder effectively killed himself and my chances with it screwing up 2 of my chances. Of course hes the first horse beaten. Livingstones = pricks!

Completely leader dominated track nearly every race. If you were not in front, you were in trouble.

At least favourite punters get no value. What comes around goes around, these days won't happen every week, they'll give it back!

Oh and it's getting to the point it's not worth making anything a standout unless it's a leader. F'n sad sport!

The tagline for harness racing should be, "Hey look at me, my horse sucks but i'm in front, boom another winner!"

I really like your analysis DM but the whole "Im having a shit day, lets bag the sport"....again gets a bit tiresome

I dont know Qld racing well but it seems to me that perhaps GC is a dynamite leaders track?
Perhaps if we know this, maybe the drivers may be aware of this too?
Maybe a study of which drivers are willing to put their horses into races etc may be valuable?

I agree you should stick to Qld as you are convinced its the best....
