Has anyone here ever worked at the Salvo's?

Our school made us do community service in year 10, I did it at a Salvos second hand shop. The lady that worked there couldn't speak english and treated me and my mate like ****, seemed to think we had been ordered to do community service from someone other then our school.

it must be a very satisfying job..

I work a few doors down from a Salvo store, and the people that I've seen work there look like they need the clothing more than their customers. And don't remind me of the stench!

A lot of society's low lifes are forced to do community work there from courts, which may explain the way that lady treated you guys Bulldog1954

I worked at a St Vinnies store for about 4 months.

Once this drunk ****ed himself in the changeroom and could hardly pull his pants up. He then denied ****ing himself despite all the urine on the floor and his pants.

The worst people are the ones who can afford the clothes and then go about complaining about the price/quality. Like $3 for a shirt is sending them broke. This guy pushed me too far one day and I told him and his wife to quit their bitching and get the fock out of the store.

Besides that it is quite rewarding. Sales really pick up after a cold night and its great to make sure people can find accessable warm clothing.

Another interesting point is that with the babies or childrens wear it is sensible to price the clothes high enough so that they wash them. In the past lots of people just throw the clothes away when they get dirty and buy new ones with their pension.

Yes, but maybe you want to ask me about Managers with Mercedes Benz cars or Tens of Thousands of $$$$ of donated products that are dumped every week.

Note:- Electrical goods are NO longer sold, but still accepted and ONSOLD to whoever is prepared to test or repair & sell.

Let's take the case of World Vision for example, considering that most people have short memories.

A few years ago, the EX Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Frasier was CAUGHT with his hand 'in the till'.

Anybody who goes down Springvale road in Melbourne will notice the DOZENS of Company cars parked under a Multi Story building on ACRES & ACRES of prime land worth Millions of $$$$.

Why would anybody want to send money to a so called charity for millions of people in countries with Governments that are clearly corrupt that need to start providing for themselves, ie... Contraception.

Australia has Thousands of homeless and hungry and I am proud to say that I regulary give food to the homeless kitchens when I can.

Go Leyton......... C'MON !!!!!!!

I once spent a morning at the Daughters of Charity on Hutt St, Adelaide, doling out breakfast to the homeless people.

Never again.

It wasn't the homeless people who got to me - it was the utter effwits from the Daughters of Charity, and the other effwits who came along with me.

I got a whole new respect for homeless people - and a whole new disdain for Catholic do-gooders.

Anyone who wants the full story can buy me a six-pack first.
