I'm training stamina this week and have a friendly coming up. Is there much point me even really fielding a side with everyone being trained anyway? I know there's experience to be gained but not sure whether it's worth the risk of injury.

What's the minimum amount of players for a game to be played?

9. And also, keep in mind that training stamina also affects your players form.

I started 10 weeks ago am 300,000+ in debt and my highest TSI is 3010 then 1200 then less than 700. I have only won two friendlies and i was given a Div V side. I will be relegated this season for sure since i have no points in the league.

Won 4-0 and 2nd place drew, so Im now 4 points clear. This week 2nd vs 3rd and I play last so I should move further ahead hopefully.

I still have to play 2nd and 3rd so destiny is in my hands. This PIC business has really helped me this season. Also all my defenders popped last week so all of them are now formidable.

Ok heres a pointless question.
I know friendly results dont mean anything, its only for training players.
Yet why do i get FLOGGED every game, 5,6,7-0 and 80-odd% against me.

Do the opposition managers:
A) Have better backup/training players and therefore beat my rusty amateurs?
B) Don't understand the training adn therefore pick their best teams in every game? (i find this unlikely)

I dont care that i get thrashed every game, i dont mind doing a bit of travelling and getting the flags when an international team invites me to their ground.

You've got a relatively new team like me and I get thrashed every friendly as well. I think it's just a case of them having better teams. You could easily just play fellow division 6 Oceania teams if you don't want to lose but at least you'll make a bit more cash this way.

I've got a question for you. You're in division 6 like me and I've resisted the temptation to play overseas friendlies because I was told you lose more money in travelling costs than what you make in your income for playing the friendly. Are you finding that? I wouldn't mind getting a few flags as well.

Since getting knocked out of the cup, my recent friendly results:

0-2 (away), 6-94% poss
0-5 (away), 19-81% poss
1-10 (away), 23-77% poss

The reason? My backups are anything from weak to solid (my wagebill is $910k/week. I simply cannot afford better) - they only serve to fill a formation spot in my second xi so I can carry out training and gain formation experience. At the moment my young wing trainees are only passable/solid too, so they can't help out much.

Remember, the vast majority of coaches in this game are playmaker trainers, thus you could well be running into a second string that boasts a midfield consisting of three players with anything from solid to world class playmaking - and under a match engine where midfield is still king, despite the tweaks of previous years, that means you will more often than not get belted as I do.

Clowns?????

Clowns are players with popular agreeability and solid leadership. If he is the only solid leader in the side, you know he is your team leader - and thus has a positive effect on team spirit. Either keeping it up for longer, or bringing it back up quicker, depending on its current level.

The opposite is what I call a "Keano" - nasty agreeability and solid leadership.

I went out and bought a clown (Tore Johnson - $330k) awhile back after stupidly listing a clown I pulled for scrap - he had woeful skills, but I didn't notice his agreeability and leadership until too late.

You should always endeavour to field eleven men in every game you play. Training stamina or general means the training of individual players obviously isn't an issue, but remember, your team loses formation experience for each game you go without playing a certain formation other than 4-4-2.

When you play a certain formation other than 4-4-2 you gain three experience levels, to a maximum of excellent of course. So if you're a 3-5-2 man like most, or want a couple of formations up your sleeve to give you the benefit of versatility and surprise, you should always take advantage of the boost.

The risk of injury is just something we have to live with - with no quality backups due to my wagebill I play Russian Roulette twice a week until I get knocked out of the cup, and then the duds come in and take over.

Be prepared for some early pumpings as you are coming in with 4 or so games left in the season. But stick with it and try and make money early. Read the hottrick.org forums.

Yeah you will get flogged and probably drop to Div 6 which isnt a bad thing because it will give you a chance to at least have competitive games and you will have time to build a team.

If you have any questions just ask away in here, the boys here are very helpful, its an awesome game when you get the hang of it.

today its 3rd (me) vs 2nd at my ground, my first ever GFI (i think its called) as i see how i go playing that, and a win will give me 2nd spot

the capacity is 12000, todays weather is sunshine so ive managed to sell out for the first time! should get a lot of cash, especially if my supporters get on the gas ;)

question time: when should i think about expanding my stadium? wait until i basically sell out every week? or when i go up a divvy?

weaver, i see you got 55k to your latest home game against Urkraft. How many supporters do you have? I think i got 1550 with a 21k stadium, going to upgrade at the end of season though.

Depends on when you need to do it. If you income is financially stable, you can do it whenever i guess. I normally wait til the end of season. But i think i am selling a trainee (which should be brilliant 19 year old winger) to fund the stadium increase as well as a new trainee. Reason being, i pretty much sell out every game against teams close to me in the league, the only reason i'm selling the trainee is cause i think selling out a 30k+ stadium will make me a bit of money back that i lose out on training the player up a few skills higher.

Anyway, back to your question, i think end of the season is probably the way to go, especially if you're heading up a division. Also, if you are selling your stadium out i dont see why not?

But try here: http://www.databased.at/hattrick/x-ray/

I think that has an arena sizer based on how many fans you have and what-not.

nah im 3rd though and no chance of going up this season, its only my first sell out, so i reckon maybe end of next season depending how many people come to my games

i was heading towards debt at a rapid rate, then organised my finances a bit better, now im making quite a bit, might save up for next season
only my first full season so dont wanna rush things, might check that website out later though, cheers mate

well i lost 1-0
not bad considering the top two are much better than the rest, and i should finish 3rd, not sure if i get more prize money for that or not

first half was 50-50
second half they 'dominated' with 51%
that annoys me a bit how they say they dominate but eh you get that

Only been playing 2 months.

I have 1 half decent player. He's 29 though. Sold the rest and got in a solid coach, with 9 assistants. Training through passes and playing 5-4-1 so i can train about 18 blokes a week. I've noticed though guys who are only good at passing don't seem to have much value, so am i making a bollox of things and should i change to training defending ?

Would love any advice!

P.S Also pumping $40k into the youth squad per week, at inadequate atm.

My team had a 5-0 win today to make it 6 wins in a row.

I probably should add that we are currently in fourth place and play the first, second and third placed teams in the next 4 matches. ;)

Still, it's my first season and I've learnt a lot about how the game works.

I train defending and use a 5-4-1 formation for each league game and a 5-3-2 for the friendlies. Perhaps that limits my scoring but from what I've heard the midfield is crucial so I'd rather have 4 players there. I received some good advice from Ed Gein when I started and made sure that the trainees were not only good in defending but also in passing. The most expensive trainee I brought was a 17 year old for $125,000. He's now solid in defending and passing and Hattrick Organiser rates his market value at $1.2 million.

Through passing doesn't sound like the kind of training that you would want to start with. Most people start off with either playmaking, scoring, defending or winger training. I won't try and give you any advice though. There are plenty of experts here who can help you better than I can.

As others have wisely said, get off the passing - it's a secondary. You should only ever think about training it if you have some decent trainees who could do with a week or two snuck here and there (ie, strikers, wingers and counterattacking defenders).

Train a primary skill such as playmaking, defending, wing or scoring (look back through this thread for the sound advice on training given by Weaver).
