Have you ever been polled?

After reading and hearing all my life about Polls, and never having been Polled, or know of anyone that has been polled, I ask "Have you ever been Polled?" If so, can you tell us your Polling story.

I used to poll people, when i worked for Roy Morgan, doing the Morgan Gallup polls...

I was almost polled once, back when i was in high school.

The lady talked ot me for about a minute and a half explaining herself and what her questions were in relation to. I was to get 18 questions that owuld not take more than 5 minutes.

Question 1: Are you 18?
Answer: No.

Ok, thanks for your time, goodbye.

****ed me off. I was getting all excited too.

Easy way to get out of them.

Them: " Are you over 18?"

Me: " No I'm 16"

Them: " Thank you for your time"


I turn 31 next month.

Actually in this case you have a dirty mind. I was reading about Latham and his popularity increasing and just wondered how they did these polls and who got polled.

I get three or four calls a month from various places doing polls. The ones from Sydney generally speak too fast and aren't all that interested in my answers, the ones from Melbourne are generally young sounding and can't read their script.
As for polling, I try to get that in at least every other day...

Did a Morgan Gallup poll once and the turds must have past my info onto every survey place out there. Get atleast 1 phone call a week to do a survey and am getting sick of asking to be removed from their books. Bastads

You will find that's not the only way they get your details.

The most dispicable way is when your local council sells your info to research/marketing companies.

Personally i rarely do surveys or polls if approached, as I dont believe in them.

On the rare occasion I have, I always give the most wayward or least popular answer.

Just my lil attempt at disrupting the 'statistics'.

Funny you should say that. 10 yrs ago we summitted plans for renovations to the local council as owner builders. Then our house and the house 2 doors down got broken into. Both of us were rebuilding. We heard later that the council releases a list of all owner builders to anyone willing to pay for it. Being owner builders the robbers would expect to find tools and ready cash lying about the house.

Private numbers do not matter 1 iota when it comes to Marketing/Survey lists..

As i said earlier, your local council sells your info from your rates.

When I was working for Roy Morgan, they just got the numbers we dialed from the White Pages disk of that year...
When I was working for Austereo we were using a disk from like 7 years ago, so there were so many calls to people with Silent Numbers, made me feel like a right tool...
Fingers Crossed the one I start work with tonight has up-to-date number lists...

Never been polled myself, but been witness to some great pollings in my school days.

The one that comes to mind right now was down on the soccer oval, where the nerd who had stepped out of his comfort zone was picked up by two guys (1 leg each). They proceeeded to run either side of the goal post, leaving the nerd curled up in the foetal position for a extended period of time. Would not surprise me if that episode cost the guy any chance at faterhood. His balls have still probably not dropped again yet.
