Season running out of steam. Prepare for 2020 now

The injectors could have put 6 trash cans in defence and we'd still got them on the chest every time we went forward.

Dropping Lewis was a terrible decision. Just dumb at the selection table.
Glass doesn't offer enough. He was better tonight but I'm not convinced he gives us enough.
O'Meara is getting tagged weekly, maybe we should help him out instead of hoping someone else stands up.

We're a bottom 6 team at best, need to really hit the draft hard.

Normally try to be pretty positive even after a loss but really disappointed by that performance .

Listless and no system all game . Beaten by an average side who may just scrape into the 8.
That’s the reality for us.
Late goals made the loss look closer then it was.

Hopefully the focus shifts ( if it hadn’t already ) to playing and getting games into our young players .
Find out who can play and who can’t .
Who has potential and who can’t cut it.

I’ll watch us every week but it’s tough work at the minute . Ain’t winning many games kicking 10-11 goals each game .

I’ll always back Clarko and the club in , method to the sometimes madness.
But I think we have plenty more frustrating games ahead this season.

Good draft and trade period , Mitchell back and we shoot back up the ladder next season

Appalling coaching performance. Clarko needs to have a good hard look at himself. To have 2 weeks to plan for this game and then dish that up from a coaching perspective is absolutely unacceptable.

I have serious man crushes on Worpel and Impey. Those two boys never ever give up and they are improving out of sight. Without these two tonight we loose by 60+ mark my words. Are leading the team better than out other ‘leaders’ at the moment.

How is it ironic? This isn't the finished product. Judge the rebuild in 3-5 years not now.

The good:

- Worpel and Impey
- Essendon fans thinking they're good. At least we can all look forward to that inevitable moment when they are again let down when the going gets tough. Happens every year.

The bad:

- Our bottom 6 - Glass, Moore, Puopolo, Brand, Cousins, O'Brien. Just horrendous.
- Sicily as a forward
- Lewis dropped
- O'Meara's inability to break a tag (or be helped by his mates)

The ugly:

- Stratton's pinching. It's one thing to be in a form slump, it's another to be acting like a ****head as the captain of our proud footy club.

Our bottom 6 (according to you) all played better than our captain and AA small forward.

Desperately need a Hodge “hand on heart” type at the club as we don’t have a single one. Poppy and McEvoy would go closest, the rest just go through the motions each week.

We have somehow learned to become a great contested mark team all around the ground except for up forward where we can never take a grab! Hopefully we can learn to tackle next as that is our Achilles heel. Opposition just slide off of us and past us at will all game, week after week.

O’Brien only plays behind the ball please Coaches! Surely we’ve clearly learnt that this year?

Control the ball around the ground then bomb it forward - was great when Rioli, Poppy, Bruest we’re in their prime but all are to slow and easily marked nowadays. Desperately need to start playing lead up football going inside 50.

Also, need to help O’Meara out - can’t afford to have our most skilled mid taken right out of the game each week.

Don’t know if we can squeeze enough good footy out of Burgoyne, Poppy, Bruest, Gunston, Smith to go the course with these kids and challenge again in a couple of years... might be next year or never.

Did well to stay at it and keep the scoreboard respectable in the end...

One more thing - noticed Smith, Shiels and Gunston all playing in defensive 50 at the same time for periods of the game - wtf?

Horrible look for Stratts, who I love. If anyone did that to Chad or Breust we'd be pissed. Nothing tough about it either which is what his game is built on in the contest.

The baffling thing is that seemingly nobody in the coaching staff has put an end to it. He should have been pulled aside after the Brissy game. It’s a horrible look for the captain and feels symptomatic of our current lack of leadership on the field.

Actually can't see more than a single win in remainder of the season to be honest.

Freo in Launceston and Gold Coast are the only 2 and both 50/50.

This could be a bottom 4 finish. Which to be frank, would be the best thing for the club's future.

Look at the bright side, even if they make the finals they will get their customary flogging in the first week whilst we have top 10 pick

They are marginally less poor than us. Good teams would have been 10 up in the first half against them. We were five up against a better team last week.

We won’t have the gas to break even in wins this year. It could have gone either way but we know which one now

We have five wins and three were above us, north who are level and Carlton who are last. We’ll have some good days but not enough

We need to throw the kitchen sink at Cogs, Kelly and Patton.

Incredibly frustrating. Poor skills, an ineffective gameplan and uninspiring performances from our leaders.

Smith racked up the possessions but killed our momentum. Breust and Puopolo are giving us nothing except warm bodies. Gunston is a shell and Stratton seems more concerned with pinching then playing the ball. These players are all performing far below what is expected both skill-wise and leadership wise. These are the players who are meant to be leading the team yet every time we look for inspiration it consistently comes from McEvoy/Impey/Henderson.

Our midfield is trying hard but often outgunned. Ever since teams figured out hard tagging O’Meara shuts us down we’ve been struggling. Sheils tried to lift but his disposal let him down. Worpel is a colossus and Cousins handy but when they tire we get run over. We desperately miss Mitchell + another quality player.

Dropping Lewis was a staggering decision considering Plan A, B & C was to blindly bomb it forward. What was even more staggering was moving Sicily back after dropping Lewis to play him forward. Our backline looked somewhat disorganised without Sicily, and our forwardline looked even more dysfunctional with the absence of one of our best contested marking players.

At least we showed some heart in the last quarter instead of rolling over and dying. But losses like that to average sides hurts - especially the scum.
