If in 2028 we are potentially going to be playing 9 games in Melbourne and 2 in Tassie or somewhere else, then we are going to be needing to make significantly more $ from the 9 Melbourne games than we've been making from the 7 Melbourne games we've had.

That means:
Membership has to cost more
More people need to take up reserved seats memberships
More people need to attend the Presidents Functions
More people need to attend the 2nd tier Lounge function
More people need to attend games (and especially at Marvel if we end up having 2-5 Marvel Home games each year)

Now not everyone of course can afford to do these things, but the reality is the club will be needing more revenue from the Melbourne games, and we all need to do what we can.

We get 9 MCG games and I will happily pay more!

Unfortunately I don't think that's not going to happen.

It would be an interesting scenario if we end up with 9-11 games in Melbourne for a few years but then end up having to sell 2-4 of them to TAS or ACT or QLD because our supporters don't attend the Marvel games.

I’m still a little disappointed by this. If Geelong is at 92,300 and a failing Richmond is at 92,500 we need to find a way to get to get to at least 95,000.

This was the 2019 membership list —

2019 MEMBERSHIP TALLIES

Richmond: 103,358 (2018 tally: 100,726)

West Coast: 90,445 (80,290)

Collingwood: 85,226 (75,507)

Essendon: 84,237 (79,319)

Hawthorn: 81,211 (80,302)

Geelong: 65,063 (63,818)

Adelaide: 64,437 (64,739)

Carlton: 64,269 (56,005)

Sydney: 61,912 (60,934)

Melbourne: 52,421 (44,275)

Port Adelaide: 51,951 (54,386)

Fremantle: 51,431 (55,639)

Western Bulldogs: 44,373 (43,246)

St Kilda: 43,038 (46,301)

North Melbourne: 42,419 (40,789)

GWS Giants: 30,109 (24,243)

Brisbane Lions: 28,023 (24,867)

Gold Coast: 13,649 (12,108)

At the same time our membership has grown 6% (and Carlton 56% and Geelong have grown 42%) our crowds are up 30% or more than 10,000 a game (which is easily the highest in the league). In Melbourne alone they are up from 42,988 to 59,375 (both including 3 games at Marvel)

So our membership has been the slowest to rise at the same time our crowds are fastest to grow in the league. The fans are clearly there and we will need to do something to grow if we lose the 7,000 in Launceston.

Not necessarily true.

We won’t have to play to clubs to allow our members to attend the designated home games. If 20k Hawks members attend each of those two games we bring back to Melbourne, there is $1m saved right there. If we bring back all four games we will save twice as much.

You probably won’t like this but the mail is that we could be playing 2 games in FNQ if we exit fully from Tasmania. The CEO hinted to this at the Hawks Insiders live event a few weeks ago…

It'd really suck.

Imagine spending a week in Palm Cove every year and having to go to two Hawthorn games while you were up there.

Hey friends, I don’t know if this has been covered or not, but, I wanna go this Friday, as we do, and was wondering if my membership barcode can get me tickets? And how many per barcode? I assume the kids memberships won’t work?

I missed out on Adelaide game because of work and I live in the bush so don’t get to go often so if there is any advice on the best way to go about getting the tickets that’s be great too?

Thank you!

I imagine it will be one ticket per barcode for this game.

Membership is meaningless these days but Geelong went from 70,000 to 92,000 in the four years since they won the 2022 flag (with no change to their attendance). Surely, we can do the same and jump from 85,000 to 100,000 plus in the next 2-3 years.

Usually it’s at least two tickets per barcode (?). But this will definitely sell out in the member window so hopefully we can take the larger share of tickets. Nothing surer than the ticking website shitting itself with 300,000 members from Coll, Haw and Geel all having access to that window though.

When I am 277,911 in the queue I will cry
