Waste of time.
Didn't Scarlett break his hand?

Yep, he had to carry his handbag with the other hand for 3 months. Balla, being the true gentleman he is, decided he better throw himself to the ground so not to embarrass the softest punch in the AFL, albeit 3 seconds later after he saw the replay and realised he had actually been hit. Not even a bruise

Can a player request a painkilling jab pre game ?
Surely you'd be asking the doc for a little side of anesthetic if u were worried about the pain.
Would a fractured jaw really inhibit your playing ability if it wasn't major ???

Depends on the fracture, location and extent - could be a huge risk if it is knocked hard of a very bad break. Unfortunately there are probably some at the Cats that would take pleasure in testing out Balla's jaw. That also says a whole lot about their makeup if they try to get "even" for what they may feel put them off their game in the past, by trying to take advantage of disabling a player long term through a known injury. No different to a king hit = cowards punch.

Reckon his height and playing style make it too much of a risk. 211 could only have been hit by accident.

Clubs make their players aware of potential strategic weaknesses of their opposition.
Naive to think they don't mention physical weaknesses/injuries.
I've had jabs for cracked ribs before games. The danger there is minimal cos if the crack snaps during the game the rib will likely puncture the lung which will deflate and prevent breathing. So even if the jab has done its job you're still stopped in your tracks cos there ain't no air.
Shit around the head is different.
I remember talking to a club doctor about a temple fracture;I said I'll play next game.
She took a texta and drew a picture of the skull on a whiteboard.Said you'll probably be fine til half time.
Someway into the 2nd 1/2 the blood will be really pumping, will have got between the skull and the brain. The pressure will mount, you will lose consciousness and unless someone drills a hole in your head at the game to release the pressure, you'll die.
I said no worries Doc that's crystal.

Hard to like that post, injury and all, we'll said. Ballas would probably smash his own jaw in a tackle before anyone could catch him.

Did the drilling hurt?
