Stuff it, I'm making the call - best TV show I've ever seen, including Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos etc.

He insisted on the beer so that everything he said in that interview would be inadmissible.I was watching the first episode again as I was showing it to a mate.
One thing I missed first time around is how Cohle makes the big deal about getting a 6 pack so he doesn't miss his drinking time.
Yet by the end he's pulled a flask out from somewhere and is openly drinking from that.
Made me wonder if he's been playing the two detectives the entire time as it implied to me that he was in more control of the situation than what was let on.

Maybe he needed the cops to supply the grog in order for what he told them to be inadmissible.Yeah I get that, but why not drink from the flask straight away? Is there a reason there?

You guys seeing the commercials for this back in Australia? Looks pretty good. I've been looking for a good drama to get into and this might help fill the Breaking Bad void.
Had a few friends rave about this, just watched all 5 episodes over 2 days.
Didn't completely get me until episode 5 which was brilliant. Agree with the Governors brother theory though
WH asking his daughter if she is captain of the varsity **** squad is the best burn I have ever seen. Was she the one with the drawings and the dolls or was it the younger one the creepy girl from TWD?
Well you guys just opened up another thought pattern for me, yes of course inadmissible , drinking beer whilst doing an interview, I hadn't thought about that, and of course he's getting a read on you.Definitely. Marty told the detectives this episode, "You're not getting a read on him, he's getting a read on you".
Has that been confirmed - that everything you say is inadmissable if you take a drink while doing it? What if you just have a sip of wine? Where is the line drawn legally is my question I suppose, seems like it might be a myth to me though.
Anyway, maybe that was part of it but I though it was just a tactic by Rust to make the detectives think less of him, lull them into a false sense of security.

It did move slow but was always ready to explode , you just sit there saying , what's going on here, then whack, very dark and complex,I like the theme at the start too. Fits the "off" feeling that this show gives out. Brilliant.Had a few friends rave about this, just watched all 5 episodes over 2 days.
