I was watching the first episode again as I was showing it to a mate.

One thing I missed first time around is how Cohle makes the big deal about getting a 6 pack so he doesn't miss his drinking time.

Yet by the end he's pulled a flask out from somewhere and is openly drinking from that.

Made me wonder if he's been playing the two detectives the entire time as it implied to me that he was in more control of the situation than what was let on.

He insisted on the beer so that everything he said in that interview would be inadmissible.

How many times have they framed Marty using light or yellow lighting?

Will be anti-climax if he's somehow involved.

His daughter threw the crown into the air only for it to get caught in the branches.

Beautifully shot, but they're probably ****ing with us before it taking it in a different direction.

As creepy as David Lynch.

Yeah I get that, but why not drink from the flask straight away? Is there a reason there?

He is most likely bad ass like me. I can start on beer and go to whiskey but I can't start on whiskey and go to beer. It's like Derek Zoolander being unable to turn left.

Most drinking habits are very defined. Most alkys are thought of or portrayed as drinking anything anywhere anytime, but that is rarely the case. Just as someone must have that 10 o'clock coffee every work day, on his drinking days Cohle has his routine &, as he said, the dicks weren't getting in the way of that.

Had a few friends rave about this, just watched all 5 episodes over 2 days.

Didn't completely get me until episode 5 which was brilliant. Agree with the Governors brother theory though

WH asking his daughter if she is captain of the varsity **** squad is the best burn I have ever seen. Was she the one with the drawings and the dolls or was it the younger one the creepy girl from TWD?

Definitely. Marty told the detectives this episode, "You're not getting a read on him, he's getting a read on you".

He insisted on the beer so that everything he said in that interview would be inadmissible.

Has that been confirmed - that everything you say is inadmissable if you take a drink while doing it? What if you just have a sip of wine? Where is the line drawn legally is my question I suppose, seems like it might be a myth to me though.

Anyway, maybe that was part of it but I though it was just a tactic by Rust to make the detectives think less of him, lull them into a false sense of security.

It was the older one. Some theories I've read suggest perhaps she was abused, possibly by someone connected to 'Yellow King'.

Well you guys just opened up another thought pattern for me, yes of course inadmissible , drinking beer whilst doing an interview, I hadn't thought about that, and of course he's getting a read on you.
Each week I can't wait for the next. Woody's character is in a small pickle, he's being and was looked after?? The way the shows directors did the take down killing scene , the way they presented it I mean to say, I go "shit they're lying!!" This is just dynamite.

Not sure of the technicalities of it, but they mention it in that video.

It did move slow but was always ready to explode , you just sit there saying , what's going on here, then whack, very dark and complex,I like the theme at the start too. Fits the "off" feeling that this show gives out. Brilliant.

Well I have no idea, but you get the feeling Cohle does.

Yeah, i posted that spoiler pic a couple of pages back NitroFan.

Hart saying "the answer was right under my nose", maybe he knows deep down that his daughter is somehow involved?
