Is the location of Detective Bezzerides (McAdams) father's holy place the same location as the holy place Don Draper goes to in Mad Men's final episodes?

I wondered that too. Looks like it to me.

Did anybody actually think this mexican guy did the killing.

The "catch" in s01 had me convinced entirely. But i never thought this mexican guy was actually the killer they were after

Everything about the corruption and such has telegraphed that this wasn't the guy, but that he was going to be the one set up to be. The aim of the setup would've been to off the detectives, pin it on him, and everyone goes home before the dirt comes up on those in Vinci.

I'll take LA over the middle east, cities where the Islam is the majority religion, heck even islamified ghettos in western nations, any day of the week. *shrugs*

just got back from the rally?

I'm loving McAdams in this. Not just 'cause she's real pretty, her performance has been great. Farrell too.

Also it's not a True Detective episode unless they show a panning overhead shot of the beautiful, beautiful FREEWAYS.

Gotta love TK's derp face:

I call him "The Glare".

It was up and down that episode.......good scene......weak scene.......good scene.......weak scene. You get it.

The development with the double cross over the wife's rapist makes things interesting.

It's taken 5 eps of very little substance or style but at least we're developing.
Yes it did at least move forward plot wise. I think it was just all those drawn out scenes between Frank and his wife that tried to de-rail it.

Anyone think it's a possibility that it was that Blake guy that fed the identity of the wrong bloke (rapist) to Frank who innocently passed it on to Ray? I don't think this is what happened but it's a possibility seeing that we now know Blake is off doing his own thing.

I think I might start telling people theres not enough bandwith for this when they start boring me. :D

Kitsch was really good in parts of the ep. Farrell and McAdams really strong throughout again. The look at Farrells face when he found out he killed the wrong guy was very well done.

Moved past comparing it to season 1. It's not that, but it's still a decent drama.

Aside from Frank, who I think is just a really poorly written character, I'm enjoying seeing Ray, Ani and in this episode Paul work. Who killed Caspere, the missing girl aren't things I really care much for. A sign perhaps that TD's strength is its actors and not Pizzollato.

But not going to be hate-watching the final three episodes, genuinely interested in seeing where the characters end up.

As someone said, the thing that worked so well in season 1 was that Rust was just the kind of guy who would spout a bunch of "deep" stuff and was just overall a different cat, but you just about always had Marty nearby to call him out and be the more normal one, eg "That's ****ing bull-SHIT, Rust".

This clip is a good example

Some of the cringeworthy bits this season, you sorta see multiple characters trying to sound deep and meaningful but it just comes off weird.

The first four eps just seem like a bit of a waste. Ep 5 was a reset and now where back to where we all want to be, with some buddy cops with history chasing down shady/creepy bad guys. They could have done the clunky backstories in 2 maybe 3 eps, now we are left with 3 eps to close it all out. Does anyone care about VV and his wifes adoption/kids problem, cause id be genuinely surprised if anyone cared even a little bit yet the whole thing seems to get 10-15 minutes of every episode, it kills any momentum the show creates, clearly there is a theme about the patriarchy going on throughout this season but this angle is just not working at all. I complained in the last ep about too many storylines to keep track of and it showed in this ep with the clunky "getting the band back together" scene with the DA "Bezzeridies is gonna run down this lead, Woodrugh is gonna go down this angle and Falcoro we need you to pursue this, also were gonna help you with your kid, Woodrugh needs to be in field and Bezziridies needs to get out of the sexual harrasment thing, is it all covered now? Okay BREAK!".

Im in til the end more cause ive given the last 5 episodes my time and now i wanna know where it goes but its a 50/50 proposition at best from here.

I must have missed it, who gave the photos of the diamonds and the senator with the girls to the lady with the missing sister?
She said that she found the photos hidden amongst her things (I think).

It was the sister of the missing girl, she said something about finding it in a safe deposit box that was mentioned in a letter (along with some of her things).

Another one of those crucial bits of dialogue lost in the mire of the stupid dialogue "im gonna start trusting that hot feeling in the back of my neck".

Cheers mate.

I agree that it's very hard to make out a lot of the dialogue - apart from the fact that some of it is a bit odd, they also seem to mumble.
