Love this Man, Favourite player down at windy hill
Since the rd2 Freo game last year i have been on the banwagon, His toughness at the ball and his left foot for a guy who had played 5 AFL games will be a star and possible Capt. IMO

And heres a good stat, in the last 22 games has kicked the first goal 3 times not a bad effort for a mid/def

Jetta – Looks like he’s getting ready for a big season. Hard worker and looks like he’s found that zip again. Would definitely expect him to play 10+ games this season.

Stanton – Just keeps impressing me at training. Really does the hard yards and deserves being part of the leadership group. Although, the buzz cut looks shocking.

Watson – Will be a great captain. Like Hocking, has slimmed down and doesn’t look as slow. Skills and kicking were amazing compared to previous seasons. Big season coming up for him.

Good job Skeeta :D

IMO, has a lot of similarities to Brad Sewell.

You know what you are getting from him everytime he steps over the white line. I would like to see him in the centre more often, but very happy with his progression. The type of game today that suits him to the ground.

played a great game today, very impressed.

was down at ground level today, and he also seemed to be doing a lot of the organising of the zone/structures on field as well.

I hadn't thought of that before, but that's a fantastic comparison.

I reckon Heater's got more toe about him than Sewell does, though.

Re: Heath Hocking:The Mooroolbark kid cements his spot

Was fantastic tonight, great last week too.

Probably his best two games.

Knights has found a really good role for him, playing on the oppositions fifth midfielder.
He's much better watching the game unfold in front of him, rather than having it all around him.

Half back is his spot.

Still love the fact that is he a genuine goal kicking mid.

He plays across half-back, but he does love a goal and takes his chances most of the time.

I hadn't thought of that before, but that's a fantastic comparison.

I reckon Heater's got more toe about him than Sewell does, though.

Sewell is fantastic in traffic, Hocking still loses his opponent in traffic.
It's why Knights has him playing across half back, pushing up onto the wing and on the oppositions 5th midfielder/hit up half forward.

He reads the play very well across half back and Knights has found a great spot for him.

He's not playing as an out and out midfielder, so I don't think the comparisons with Sewell are apt. Probably playing a little more like Hodge to be honest.

He's had a good year, his last two games have been fantastic.

He's a heavy winger who loves a 1-on-1. Does his best work throwing himself at a loose ball then getting involved if we win it and charging into space. He's actually the player we want Myers to become.
Sewell's an in-close mid.
That comparison's about 2 years out of date.

Re: Heath Hocking:The Mooroolbark kid cements his spot

Been a huge fan of his ever since I saw him dominate a final for Bendigo (same day as Hird's last game) before coming off injured and the side falling to pieces without him.

Absoloutely no doubt about this bloke... Hard as nails in close and at the opposition, absoloutely loved his game last night, keep up the good work Heater!!

His tackling (whilst normally very good) was absolutely second to none yesterday. Fierce, solid tackles, and unlike some of his teammates, they always stuck.

Surprised me a couple of times too with a couple of very good contested overhead marks. Didn't think he was that great overhead in the past, but he was yesterday. :thumbsu:

**** he was good tonight. In everything. Great game! :thumbsu: He's become much better than I'd thought possible. Hats off Heath! :thumbsu:

Oh I remember that. Reimers was awesome that day as well. We were up by so much and LOST!!!

On Heath last night, he had a great game. It's really good to see a player that isn't the most naturally talented player continually improve because of the amount of effort he puts in. Players like Heath, Pev, JJ are always my fav players.
Love how Heath puts his body on the line as well.

Another good game. Improving every week. Surely there can't be any more posters out there who are willing to bag him now and say he's not going to make it.

83% EFF.POSS, 5 inside 50s...he is becoming a very handy player, and not just against the 'weaker' sides.

You look at Howlett- 81% EFF.POSS, 7 tackles, 6 clearences, 5 inside 50s and a goal....

and Melksham- 100% EFF.POSS, 2 goals and showing loads of genuine class for such an inexperienced young rookie...

These three players (when Melksham adds 10kgs) could be the core group for us-along with Watson- of a hard bodied skilled MF for the next two or three years.

The stuff we have been missing around the packs for a few too many seasons. Hardness.

Players that are willing to go in and do the hard things, and in Melksham's case, get rid of the ball without giving it back to the other side and creating something for us.

It's looking good so far..
