Seems a bit one sided though...umpires touch us up most weeks.

I was watching that Maxwell v Johnson incident, and Johnson took the biggest dive ever!! Maxy has no worries...

When Maxwell got reported, Steve Johnson was just running near the ball bout 20 metres off the play and Maxwell just came in and bumped him and might have clipped Johnson's chin on the way through. Johnson was completely not expecting the bump.

Kirk got bumped into the ump and couldn't do a thing about it. Heater's was deliberate and depending on what he said, aggressive. 4 weeks.

There is a line and Shaw crossed it.

People will stick up for players who run into (or are pushed into) umpires by accident during play. There are many players out on the ground and the umps do not make it easy at times to avoid them.

But he loses sympathy when he make the choice to go up to a umpire and touch him. You say it was not aggressive and while he did not go and punch him he did go about it in an aggressive manner.

I have no idea what he was thinking as fighting with the umpire gets you a 50 at worse and in Heaths case a report you are never go to change his mind.

The soft pricks will use Shaw as yet another example of the physical and mental softness of the umpiring fraternity.

The umpire who recently injured a player should get done for assault in the workplace.

I'm going on Brett Kirk's case last week, where even though he was pushed into a coloured maggot, he got 97.25 points (almost 1 week).

Now Heath has initiated contact (as soft as it was), actually deliberately pushed the walking dunny brush (otherwise known as Vozzo) and knew his guilt almost straight away.

We need to plead guilty on this one if they give him anything in the range of 1-3 weeks, we cant beat it, unless the charge is incorrect.

I'd say 3 weeks, maybe with a guilty plea, down to 2.

Did anyone see Medders (?) hit on Chapman? Only saw it out of the corner of my eye but I think Medders hit him across the back of his head. Didn't see it properly though so not sure if that's what actually happened.
