Helbig as a tagger?

Just thinking out aloud really but it occurred to me that this bloke might be ideal as a Ryan Crowley type.
He is undisciplined on field which is a concern but it just might be the type of role that saves him.
He's got plenty of shit in him and God knows we are crying out for a real shut down type.
Maybe it's him?
What do people think?
Lol I'm aware he may even get the arse yet but I wouldn't mind trying him in this type of role before we move him on.

If he can stop getting injured he'll be fine as a midfielder. It's possible he could be a tagger but I'm not sure he has the body type. Mid/HFF for mine.

It's good sign if guys like helbig get delisted. From here on in tough decisions are going to be made and their will be plenty that don't agree. It is a sure fire sign of a strong, improving list.

This is the first year in as long as I can remember that there isn't a delist thread and everyone is in complete agreement or happy with the choices.

I like helbig, unfortunately smaller type player don't get the same type of leeway to develop as the kpp's.

I would love to see him as a tagger but I assume his injuries have more than likely prevented him from building an elite tank.

I would be really surprised to see him get delisted, I think there is plenty to work with. He played same good sub games early on and kicked some ripping goals.

I cant say i watch too many Coburg games and I have read he seems to be injured a fair bit.
But i dont know what all his hype is about. Surely if he was good enough he would have had more games by now.
Was he injured at the time we played Arnott ahead of him?
Was he injured when Lonergan played against Essendon?

I know when we have selected him we have played him out of position but IMO if he was good enough he would have played more games by now.
Dont see a spot for him in our team. Would love to have him purely for our VLF team though.

I love Helbig.

I see abit in his situation similar to that of Coughlan.

When Wayne Campbell got injured/eventually retired, Cogs stepped in and dominated... Now that Tucky has retired, I recon Helbig has the potential to stamp his name on that inside midfield spot!

Fingers crossed anyhow!

Does anyone know how many list spots we plan on freeing up? Tucky gone is one, Matt White two. Looks like McGuane and Nahas gone. Derickx surely replaced by Hampson.

That's 5 out and only 1 back in the other way. Given the game time Petterd got this year, I will assume he gets an upgrade. That leaves 3 spots left without Helbig being delisted and we've announced that we've virtually put the cue in the rack regarding trading and free agency. Surely 3 picks is the most you would take in a supposed weak draft especially with your 2nd rounder gone.

Not convinced by Helbig as yet but surely those circumstances buy him another year?

He (helbig) should be given more time. Has had foot injuries which do play up and make it very difficult to train hard and long. I'm studying podiatry and the complexity of the foot bones is intense - some have reduced blood supply and if damaged will not function as well as previously. I hope he can get up and play well. He does have some mongrel in him.. I miss that.

fairly sure he got a game before both of them.. Freo was it? round 5
he was also playing for Coburg June/July/August

I love Helbig, he does not lack for courage and he has mongrel. My only worry is that if he does not shake of this injury curse it will cause his career to stall with us. He when fit is a great trainer, trains as he plays, one reason we persevere with him as most believe, if given a fair run he will succeed.

It'd be a shame to see him go. He had such a good 2011. If we were to get rid of him, no other club would want to trade for him because his past 2 seasons (and stat sheet) don't justify a trade. Would most likely be picked up in a PSD or rookie draft.

And amcre, I agree if Petterd gets elevated in place of Helbig I'd also be pissed.
