My folks computer(not mine) had a problem. Every 5 minutes this certain window, telling them to go to a certain website and download a "spyware" program they have pops up. It wont go away. Ive ran an anti-virus with up to date files, no detection, ive run ad aware and skybot and got rid of all that countless times, no change, ive even installed the google toolbar, turned on the pop-up stopper and it STILL comes up. What can i do?

clear history and cache, also go to downloaded internet files and c if its there

One doesn't exist.

It's possible to switch to systems that are more stable and secure than Windows, but you do have to pay the price of having many less applications and games available to you.

It's a tradeoff, and one that works fine for you, but I do have to point out that your actions exemplify exactly what many people dislike about the Mac user, and are, in fact, anti-productive.

It's similar to the guys who stand on street corners reading from Bibles. Unwanted evangelism reinforces negative stereotypes, and harms your cause.

I wasn't necessarily referring to MacOS. It's nice that you immediately associated that with secure and stable, though.

i think what he was associating MacOS with was your annoying and ultimately useless little snipes about windows.

But then again, MacOS is great, if all you want to do is graphics work.

Yes.

There are a bunch of systems that are more stable and secure than Windows, and all of them have a lot less games and applications available to them.

But I associate your unprofitable evangelising with MacOS - which I personally have some liking for, although I prefer Windows - for the flexibility.

If stable and secure is your most important feature, go use Solaris.

.

Hmm i would be intrested to know how many apps linux actually has, probably less then windows, but a lot less? possible.

One of my suggestions is if these windows keep poping up when you are using IE or have gotten rid of them is to get a proper browser or another proper browser but i would prefer the first.
