I am selling the computer that I am on now. I have a new computer. After tonight, I will not post anything on this computer.

If I want to post something on my new computer, will I be able to post using the Play on name, or will I have to register a new name? I would like to keep the Play on name if possible.

Is it possible to be banned, and then re- register the play on name on my new computer? I ask this, because when the computer is sold, if the person we sell it to comes to this site, they can post using the play on name. I don't want anyone else using my name, as people will think that I am posting things, when it will really be the person I have sold the computer to.

I did my name and password a couple of hours ago, and a screen came up saying that some information could be seen by others. Does anyone know what information that would be?

um yeah i get that if i log onto the computers at uni....um its got something to with the cookies. thats all i know...... as for the info shared i dont know what that would be

Play On.
I advice you to do this.

The minute before u sell your computer, register a new name that you are not going to use. This way it will be impossible for youe new user to log on as Play On, as the last person who visited to the site wouldve been your aliance.

Anyway, if you know your password, you can log onto and computer using play On!

If you dont know your password because you typed in a whole heap of crap for your password, you can also change your password!

Isn't it a violation of copyright to sell a computer with certain software installed (e.g MS Windows, Office, etc)? I'm not at all sure about this, but I remember reading something vaguely along those lines only a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe you should delete all software before you sell the computer, and supply the new owner/secondhand retailer with the back-up software to re-install the software when the PC changes hands.

This should prevent any other user being automatically logged in as you.

You can login under your username from anywhere, as long as you know your password.

How about the Email adress? People will see it, as when I register, they will see the email adress. Is their any way of being able to hide my email adress from the person who gets my computer?

It has been great posting under the Play on name. I am about to register under a name I will never use, then register on my new computer another name. Bigfooty will never be the same:(

how will that person see your email address? Surely, they can only see it if they know your password to get into your email account?

If you are selling your computer and it has not been agreed that you will give them any application programs with it, you should format your C drive. This will wipe everything off your computer, include the OS (most prob Win95/98/NT).

To format, do this:

Go to command prompt or MS DOS PROMPT (in your start menu)
type in: C: (to change to C drive)
type in: format c:
and follow the prompts.

Anything on your computer that you still need you will have save on floppys, or on a CD if you have a burner.

if you just reformat it, everything is lost, all history and everything. That would do it. I'm sure if you are selling it to a shop they will do this anyway, and most people reformat a comp if they buy it second hand.
