Help required

I want to do something with/for my girlfriend outside the normal dinner, movies, club, shopping etc. I've got a budget of around $200-$400 and have my Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night free. Anyone have any ideas on what we can do that's not one of the above?

I know it doesn't fill the "night" criteria, but how about a hot air balloon ride over the Yarra Valley?

Yeah, I'd like to do that, but I'm pretty sure they need a few weeks notice, and costs around $600 from memory.

Go on a cooking course together, or a wine tasting course. Actually pretty fun when you're around the early-mid 20's age, and you can get something out of it.

If that's no good, go play mini-golf for stakes.

Go away for the weekend. Take a nice drive down to a beach or something and stay overnight.

How about a cruise on the yarra, not the ferries but on a yacht if they still do them, I did that a few years back & it was fantastic, good food, wine & very enjoyable.

That’s a great idea Hawk! Would be expensive though.

One weekend my girlfriend and I took the ferry over to Tasmania. Left on Friday evening, slept in a cabin berth overnight, spent the next day driving round in Tassie with the hire car provided, and then got the ferry back that night. It was all good. Unfortunately, I can't remember how much it cost. Wasn't too much though.

We're actually going to Tassie in a little over a month.

I'd like to do something on Saturday, as it'll be a good day, we're visiting an art show in China town and then have to rest of the day to ourselves.

I was leaning toward maybe heading down to Sorrento, maybe do the ferry accross to the other side then drive back around......

Used to do that trip on my old Duke for something to do. Most bodacious.

One of the better things I did Swifty was take the GF on the Haunted Ghost Tour around Melbourne. Either that, and if she's into chocolate, take her on the chocolate walking tour, I think it's called the chocoholic tour.

Both great fun, and many browny points for being so inventive with your choice of activity.

gooney bird dinner flight

This is a fantastic night out. Welcomed at the old Melbourne Airport (Essendon) terminal by hostesses in period costume (1940s), and the pilots chat with the passengers, some of whom dress up in costume too.

Champagne is served prior to the flight, and dinner served on the 1.5 hour flight which circles the city and goes down the coast toward Lorne, and on return you are served wine, cheese ..... Great stuff.

Go abseiling or kayaking or horseriding - somewhere rural where you can stay in a nice B&B
