According to his latest news update, Neil Peart informs us that the band recorded their material at Allaire Studio in the Catskill Mountains region of New York State. The album will be produced and engineered by Nick Raskulinecz, best known for his work with the Foo Fighters. The album will be done by New Year's. More info on the N.E.P news at www.neilpeart.net and let's hope for the 200th signature on the petition!!!

Have you seen pics of that studio? It looks A-MAZING! What a place to record. Would be truly inspirational. Let's hope they outdo Vapour Trails, which to me was their best since Roll the Bones, and possibly even since Power Windows (my all time favourite album by anyone).
Saving my pennies for the tour again, too.....

Here is the latest update (via the Rush Forum)

Kim Mitchell (Max Webster) is a DJ at Toronto's Q107 CILQ. He says that Andy Curran of the Toronto based group Coney Hatch who is now with SRO/Anthem said to Mitchell on Q107 this morning (18 Jan 07) says :

"Rush is in LA right now putting the fianl mixes on the new album; says the band sounds 20 years younger...The preview sounds tight!! It's gonna be a good one!"

A return to the 80's synth rock days ala Power Windows/ Hold Your Fire?

Hope it sounds well.

AS for the working title.... Snakes and Arrows

It actually should be called Six of One Half a Dozen of another, being it is their sixth album with Atlantic!

Yep. Saving for my plane ticket as we speak.....:thumbsu:

After much research and arguing, me and my partner have decided on seeing them in LA at the Hollywood Bowl, and possibly Irvine, CA.

So, what's the quickest way for someone in Melb to get their hands on Snakes & Arrows?

Pre-order from JB?
Rock up to JB on or just after 1 May?
Amazon?

And then there's a DVD version of the album coming out later apparently including doco and extras.

Enjoying reading reviews on the counterparts forum (album has leaked but I'm not d/l'ing). Was kinda hoping they'd continue roughly down the Vapour Trails track, but is seams they've reinvented themselves again.

Psyched & toey.

Will you be joining us in the US of A for the tour?

You can log on to www.wdhafm.com and listen to the world premiere of "Snakes and Arrows" 9PM Eastern Daylight time SUnday evening, which is about 12PM in Perth, 1:30 in Adelaide, 2PM In Syd and Mel on Monday.

Fantastic show. :thumbsu: Fascinating to hear the great man (Geddy Lee) speak. He has quite a deep speaking voice actually, which contrasts with his singing voice.

Sounds like another very solid Rush album. A couple of the songs they played were fantastic, including the first single Far Cry. :thumbsu:

I purchased my copy of "Snakes and Arrows" last evening (May 1) at Best Buy for $11.99...would have saved $2 buy purchasing it at Circuit CIty. Didn't listen to it until late last night.

A Great piece of work indeed. Rush did the right thing- they picked a great producer/engineer, recored at some great stduios (Allaire in the Catskills), and even used the mellotron (think Strawberry Fields forever if you do not know what that instrument is!). Snakes and Arrows is an album worthy of getting some Grammy- and Juno, for that matter- nominations!
