If a girl identifies herself as 18 and a reasonable person would believe her, then there should be no guilt from the guy who sleeps with her. Probably worthy of a story, but the player involved doesn't deserve to be named and shamed or disciplined.

The footy clinic point is actually the only point of contention in the whole thing.

What are the other problems?

Why is it serious?

If she is over 16 there is no problem.

There is no accusation of rape.

It's just a football player chasing chick who got up the duff.

Unlucky, yes.

Stupid, perhaps.

Unlawful, no.

The story says she met the players at a footy clinic, then met them again after the Sydney game where they EXCHANGED phone numbers. Meaning she gave her number to them. Also she said she was 18 and her facebook page says she is 19. She has sex with them.

Then also engages with another player from a different club. Now all of a sudden it's a big footy issue and the players are to blame.

From how it reads, she instigated everything and is now furiously back pedalling her way out of trouble.
 
^^^ Oh and also - if they're going to blame football players for rooting 17-19 year old girls who chase them around the country after meeting them at football clinics, well, frankly, they'll have to ban football clinics or girls or the sport altogether.

It's actually a disgrace, this Footy Clinic line.

The whole thing is a disgrace and nobodies business.

The footy clinic fact is thrown in as the ONLY justification for printing this crap.
 
There's no point jumping to conclusions after reading one article.

Let's see how things develop over the next couple of days when more news comes to light.

Damn, you guys just can't get a break this year huh!?

Well it sounds like some beat up to me 2bh. I'm not saying it's fine or ok or anything, last thing we need is teenage pregnancies, but certainly a beat up making it sound far worse for the Saints than it seems.

Some silly 16 year old (going on 21) who chased around (& got) some footy players to sleep with her got pregnant... Wonder who the players were? Any ideas?

This isn't great is it, but seriously. How big of a deal is it? It could be completely exaggerated, though thats not to say it won't get seriously publicised. Gahh, hope this doesn't impact us on the field, because im ******* sick of this.

Yeah it hardly sounds like she is an innocent victim when she is instigating contact with the players and then lying to them about her age and occupation. Of course the media and idiots here will jump to conclusions and blame the Saints players.

Hopefully nothing comes of it but it is still another unwanted distraction just when we were getting our season back on track.
 
It will be more than unwanted if they start suspending players and so fourth.

I'm not sure how constructive it is to automatically blame the girl involved.

As I've already said twice, we don't know the full story.

Let's wait until more news becomes available.
 
I've got word on one player involved, not sure how true it is but a reliable source has hinted it could be someone who we wouldn't want to see in this situation.

Just have to wait on this one for more info.

Why? Because everyone will have TWO players in mind immediately, and if they're NOT the people involved then they are owed some slack (and muttered apologies) if they are not.

Don't get DNA tests - wait till the kid is grown up to see if he's a decent footballer. Worth the gamble. If he's shit at 16 then get DNA tests.
