The little brat isn't as good as he thought he was.

Go Scud!!

Doesnt take long for the knockers does it

You are un-Australian.

I guess we're seeing Stoltenberg's `hard' coaching coming into play, as opposed to Darren Cahill's `soft' coaching that got Lleyton to #1

have to wonder what the real reason was behind Cahill getting sacked after he had got him to number 1 and won a US open.

Apparently Cahill and Lleytons dad didn't get along and one of them had to go...unfortunately you can't sack your dad :D

Hewitt lost in 4 sets. Wasn't suprised because he's been out of action with the Chicken Pox and has only played 1 or 2 warm up games since Christmas. Scud's our last hope!

I had a really crappy day today. Slept in, tired and grumpy. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Then I come home and read this post.

Thankyou so much GoEagles for brightening my day and making it feel as though suddenly everything is OK in my world! :D

Suffer Lleyton you little jerk!

HAIL THE TRUE AUSSIE CHAMPION.............

AMEN!!
I hate that guy so much!!!
If he wins than its a good credit to Australia, but personally I would much rather see Rafter, Agassi etc... win! Hewitt is nothing but a stuck up little boy, the sooner he grows up the better!

...if they were playing ;)

I like Hewitt. He enjoys himself and plays with passion.

Rafter is alright, but Phillipoussis loves himself and would be satisfied going home with his appearance money.

Have you heard Phillipoussis talk? I heard him in an i/view a few months ago where they asked him what the future held for him. He spent the next 5 mins talking about how many cars he's collected and how much money he has in the bank.

Hewitt might be outspoken and crude, but he plays with passion and he plays for the country.

What was the context of the question? Maybe a few months ago Mark didn't know if he'd ever be able to play tennis again. Maybe his answer was in response to what he'd gained from playing tennis and what he had to take out of it. (including a successful Davis Cup that he won for his country basically off his own racket).

I won't take anything away from the fact Lleyton is a very talented player. But he does need to grow up and stop carrying on like a spoilt little brat. THAT'S what people don't like.

Mark may have turned his back on playing for his country, but only after his country turned their backs on him.

I dont know what it is, but I've never really liked Mark Phillipousis. Sure Lleyton carries on a bit but there's just something about his passion...oh I don't know.

Mark Phillipousis has always struck me as rather pretentious and snobby, especially as he emerged the same time as Rafter. Of all of them I have the most respect for Rafter - he's never forgotten his roots.

I like Hewitt also. He has the passion to win like no other player currently and is a true champion. I think the title of "World #1"
has affected him since the masters cup. Lost the davis cup for us and now the first round loss.

i do like hewitt but my favourite players are Rafter and Poo boy.

BTW the knockers of hewitt in this post, what do u think of andy roddick as he is also "a stuck up little boy" lol

Questionable tactics by Martin to call an injury timeout at 4-5 in the tiebreak on Lleyton's serve. It is always harder to maintain a rhythm on serve after a break. It was perfectly legal but the guy didn't show any signs of a leg injury hampering his movement. Poor sportsmanship but he would have won anyway. Lleyton was miles away from his best.

Hehe. That sounds like the Poo!

I've met him a couple of times (a friend of a friend) and he's a lovely guy.

Also, if you think of the way the media have treated him over the past few years, you might understand why he occasionally doesn't give a toss.

He's a very proud and genuinely nice person.

Hewitt might be outspoken and crude, but he plays with passion and he plays for the country.

No he doesn't! He plays for himself! What did he call the Aussie crowd a couple of years ago....?

He needs to grow up, and QUICKLY, now that he's #1. Remember, it wasn't even a year ago that he made that ridiculous comment about the black linesman.

I just have fears of him becoming Australia's "McEnroe." Hopefully he'll grow up and prove me wrong.

Exactly , had he been playing in the davis cup final and pulled out of the deciding match cause he was a little tired(awwww poor patty) we know how the media would have treated him...Would never hear the end of it...

I'm in Queensland and Pat did get a lot of negative press over the Davis Cup. That's in his home state too. Mind you Fitzy copped most of it.

As much as you people like to moan and bitch about Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick, but the fact of the matter is that Tennis has been suffering from a lack of personalities since the mid 80's.

Sure we've had the nice people like Rafter and Agassi and the characters like Noah and Leconte, but tennis was at its best in the 70's when you had Connors (like Lleyton Hewitt and Pat Rafter wins matches on heart than any other player), McEnroe who regardless of his antics, always got bums on seats, and Nastase.

Hewitt and Roddick are good for tennis, because they come at a time when the tennis fan is yearning for some life into the mens game.
