Don't be infantile. Hardly anyone sponsors any club without the expectation of a better than average commercial return. Philanthrophy is not alive and well in the AFL.

CJ said he would be very keen to become the major sponsor of RFC in 2004, and put forward a plan that would also enable CJ's to gain access to some of RFC's more mobile-friendly clients. The RFC marketing dept just didn't get it.

Essentially I don't disagree, but the marketing department managed to work out access to our fans for Motorolla to give special offers and deals, so if CJ couldn't organise the same then I'd suggest the problem was either at his end or there were other reasons for the RFC to freeze him out.

CJ tried to but the presidency. He would stump up the cash but in exchange for having final say on how the club was run. He was told he was welcome on the board but would have to do an apprenticeship.

We don't want to see our club de-facto privatised by a bloke who buys his way in.
