Who do you consider is a better ruckman at the moment, and which do you think shows more promise? This has been a topic of much discussion before, but as far as I can tell there hasn't been a clear cut poll done, and besides it is an interesting question with trade week coming up.
For mine it is Laycock. He is younger than Hille and has been crippled by injuries which mean he doesn't have the fitness base required. If you look at McIntosh you can see what a difference a big pre-season can have.
Laycock is IMO a better tap ruckman than Hille, although he does sometime jump too early. The main advantage I see with Laycock is his uncanny ability to rove his own taps, and the other ruckmans taps, which gets us centre clearances. He is very good below his knees for a big man.
As a forward I think Laycock is much more damaging. He is the best contested mark in our team IMO. He has very strong hands, as he has shown playing the loose man in defence role and in the forward line. Hille is also a good mark, but I don't think he is at the same level as Laycock in this area.Hille is a booming kcik of the footy, but Laycock is also a good set shot. He provides another viable option up forward, whereas to me Hille looks like a ruckman just resting in the forward line.
