I am not denying that Koutoufides had a great year this year but I am talking about the past 6 years, he needs to be consistent which Hirdy is and whenever Hirdy is playing he is always brilliant, when kouta is consistent like him I will acknowledge he is as good as hird but until then , give me Hirdy anyday !

And the best thing? He's only 27 AND we (ironically thanks to his now healed long term foot problems) have learnt to win without him... Just heard Carey is 30 this year (and lets face it has a body over 35 from the way he plays)... can you win without him???????

the roos are history next year,with capuano gone leaving burton to ruck and with their best player gone in peter bell, they are finished. carey has seen his best days and is always carrying some sort of injury, he has 2 years maximum left, hird has 5 or 6 left and will win more premierships and even a bronwlow before he retires. also, i meant when hird is playing he is good all the time,i know he has had injury problems but now he is over them

North missed the finals in 1990

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

The McClelleand and Ansett Cup trophys in 1990 were 2 of the "big" three. We won 2 out of the three "team trophys that are up for grabs in any given year.

Anyway, it was two more than North got 10 years ago. They got nothing.

Thanks for giving me another excuse to :

* state that our 21 win H&A season was much harder to achieve than our 3 finals wins. It's true, it's true.

* state that our top spot achieved this year (and in 1990) was the best indicator, as to who the best team was in those years. The finals series just proved who was the best team over 4 weeks. We proved who was the best over 22.

During 2000, North was the reigning premiers. Essendon was the reigning "best team". The fact that we were not called premiers after being "the best" in 1999 (which is what premiers means), is a criticism of the system, not of you.
 
man your dumb ! the fact is that - LAST YEAR WITHOUT HIRD ESSENDON WON THE MINOR PREMIERSHIP !!!!!!!!!! that is fact which therefore proves we can win games without him playing !
 
Rooboy, no worries mate - I'd certainly be following the same niggle line if I was in your shoes.

That said, I think winning the Minor Premiership four times in the last 11 years (90,93,99,00) for 2 flags is at least breaking even as long as we turn that into one or two more flags. Conversely I think 2 flags (and the last one the equivalent of the door prize) from 7 PFs is a very poor return (I would be v.unhappy with that).

As for the 'No JH No Dons theory':

I think everyone knows how good Essendon are with or without Hird - 44 out of the last 49 and a night flag with Hird playing in less than half of those gamesspeaks for itself ...
I think North fans are (and should be) all eternally grateful for Essendon's inaccuracy in the 99PF (and good luck to them)...
I know the Roos are dead set terrified of playing us now - with or without Hird - have been for the past two years - what is it now? A collective margin of around 300+ in the last 5 games (not including the Night GF)? Reason? Essendon respect North enough to really turn it on against them... unlike Carlscum for whom they seldom get of first gear...
