Richmond gets the chance to break a 75-year hoodoo when it takes on Essendon at the MCG on Saturday night.
A win for the Tigers would give them a clean sweep in 2006 in matches against the club's three biggest rivals - Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon - something the club has only ever achieved once in its history since joining the competition in 1908.
And that was way back in 1931 when the Tigers defeated all three of their great rivals at Punt Road as well beating them at Princes Park, Victoria Park and Windy Hill respectively.
Since then the Tigers have lost to at least one of their great rivals in every season since - including in all their premiership years.
But after beating Essendon by one point earlier this season, downing Carlton twice as well as thrashing Collingwood in the wet at the MCG in round 13, the Tigers get the chance to make it five from five against the other members of Victoria's "big four" on Saturday night.
Richmond coach Terry Wallace was stunned when told by Sportal of the opportunity for his team to create history on Saturday night.
"I didn’t know that, I am amazed it has been that long," he said of the chance to be unbeaten against the club's three main rivals this year.
While Wallace said his main goal for the rest of the season was to register at least one more win to ensure the Tigers' improvement graph continued to go up this year, with the club currently level on last year's tally of ten wins with two rounds remaining, he admitted it would be great for Richmond supporters to see their team clean-sweep their great rivals this year.
"It would be lovely to do it, but first we have got to beat a side (Essendon) that we only beat by a kick last time who would be fairly determined not to allow that to happen again."
"My priority has been the improvement graph for the footy club, but there is great rivalry between Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and the Richmond - they are the big four - and anything we can chalk up over them is a bonus."
Wallace believes that even if the Tigers don't register another win in the last two games this year and remain locked on last year's total of ten wins, the team will still have improved.
And that is because the Tigers have already achieved the same number of wins as last year with a much younger side this year.
"In round 20 (last week) we had about 18 games per player less experience than we had in round 20 last year," he said.
"We are significantly younger this year and even this week there is a lot of talk about Essendon playing their younger boys but, based on the two teams from last week, we will have about 600 games less experience than them."
"We are genuinely playing some young guys so we are heading down the right track and that will hold us in good stead for the future."
