Couldn't find a thread on this but please merge if I'm completely blind and useless.

I am a big fan of the Hitman series and am looking forward to this next gen version. I am a bit confused though as I read that it's out on the 11th of March yet can't seem to find it for pre-sale anywhere, in some cases it's like it doesn't even exist.

I am not crazy though as there are videos

Have I missed something about it's release date in Australia?

Please help me, I am so confused and lost!!

Absolutely love all the hitman games, some of them are my all time favourites. Blood money was awesome, thought absolution took a different path and was still good but would like them to go back to what make blood money, contracts and hitman 2 so good.

Also I don't think it is out in March, on the EB games AU website the release date is TBC 2016.

I haven't really followed this too much but didn't they turn it into an episodic game? Available for preorder on the PSN store releasing 11th of March so I presume the physical copy won't be available till later in the year once all episodes are out.

Didn't know that, strange that is. Seems if you buy the full digital game you get the intro and all the monthly updates free. A new city and storyline will be available each month. I think there's going to be 6, and then a full retail version of the game will be released.

Pretty much this game will be played over the course of the year with monthly updates.

It really is a poor idea I reckon, they should have released the game and just added a season pass or later missions, I don't like the idea of getting "episodes" so I'll either wait until full release or not bother, which is a shame as I really liked the last game.

For anyone interested in this there is a beta live till Monday for PS+ members.

Gave the beta a go.

It's back to really traditional Hitman. Very much 'scenario' based missions and basically left to you to figure it out.

With that being said, these are training missions so it could open up a bit more to what Absolution was but from all reports that won't be the case this time around.

Both missions are entertaining and look like they have a heap of possibilities as is the Hitman way, most of the challenges were fun to get and figure out too.

Graphically it's definitely not doing anything special, it looks fairly bland visually. But the upside is that it runs buttery smooth frameratr, not sure how that'll change once large crowds come in.

Hasn't done anything to turn me off buying, that's for sure.

Episodic isn't that bad of an idea, if the price is reasonable. With ep 1 releasing 3 days after The Division, as a full game I wouldn't have bothered as it'd take too much time away from The Division. As an episode which will likely have around 2 hours of gameplay, i can be done with it in a night and know i don't need to play again until the next ep is out. Should be an easy plat in episodic form too.

Tried the beta out, not bad, pretty much standard Hitman fare. I'll probably wait for the inevitable sale before picking this up. I know its just a beta but it was pretty buggy for a game that's only a week away.

I'm not sure episodic releases suit a game like Hitman. Something about it doesn't sit right with me, especially when they say they're going to release a full version eventually anyway.

Wow.

This is making me think twice about initial purchase. That is some old school sega mega system type bugs right there

If there's any game format that suits episodic content it is Hitman. As it's always been about enclosed levels with very little relevance to one another.

The idea about the release isn't that they're 'going to release a full version eventually'. It's more that you can buy the game episode by episode and eventually you'll have purchased the 'full version'. Or you pay a one time amount that gets you access to every episode as it becomes available until it's the 'full version'.

Yeah it makes a heck of a lot of sense to me, Hitman is all about fun scenarios/sandboxes to play in. Strange comment.

And those levels usually take 15 minutes to beat, sometimes more. I'm not fine with 30 minute episodes, nobody should be.

If they do the levels well enough the replay factor is generally pretty high.

They wouldn't want to wait too long between episodes though

I've found in previous hitman games that I can replay the shit out of the same level, blood money is a perfect example, finished that game about 5 times and just loved replaying levels to do it differently.

Hope it's the same with this one because Absolution had hardly any replay value.

Love Hitman games. Finished Silent Assassin and Blood Money multiple times. Enjoyed Absolution but can understand why some didn't like it.

Not a fan of the monthly releases. Will pick it up once properly released. Gives me time to finish everything I want to by then.

I reckon the episodic thing is really cool.

They should integrate it with your PSN/X1 and have a pop-up/message appear when an episode releases with something like "A new assignment is ready for you", and it plays out a movie about your target, and then you download the game and carry out the hit.

Something like that, but better than how I explained it...

While I'm here, PSA all the Hitman games are crazy cheap on Steam right now until tomorrow I think, Silent Assassin/Blood Money/Contracts are only $1.75 US iirc. Absolution is $4.99. There is a Collection with 5 games for $9.99.

* Just checked, sale ends in 7 hours.
