Hodge Chickenwing

Well, I thought the original Judd suspension was absurd but I don't see how this was any different. Twisted Selwood's arm behind his back until he injured it. How many weeks?

Hodge goes in hard, but fair. It was an accident and he let go when he realised.

Moaning like a little bitch isnt going to change the result sweetie.

Grabbing a moving player's wrist in a tackle is a chicken wing...?

Fcuk me dead. Some people have no idea.

History lesson: A "chicken wing" tackle was a phrase coined by the Sydney media to describe the Melbourne Storm's controversial Jiu Jitsu technique which they used to "submit" an opponent who had been tackled and was lying face down on the ground. They'd grab his arm and pull it backwards to prevent him from rising to his feet and playing the ball. It was a grappling move they'd practised to slow the other team down. It was usually done by the second man in on the tackle.

Like Chris Judd did to the North Melbourne footballer that time.

In typical AFL fashion, whenever we try to copy phrases and jargon from other sports, we always manage to get it wrong. Mostly ignorant people in the media who don't know what they're talking about. This is why Cyril Rioli was accused of "chicken wings" whenever he grabbed an opponent's wrist in a stand up tackle, one on one... WRONG! It's not a chicken wing.

Chicken wing tackles occur when someone deliberately grabs the arm and pulls it back with the INTENTION of putting stress on the shoulder joint.

Morons.

As far as my kids know now, when I carve up a chook, they fight over the drumsticks, and to a lesser extent - the two 'juddies'. Is an eye gouging, pressure point molesting, chicken wingin, bald headed, soft tubed dog. 'Mr Chicken wing' for short.

Hodge? His only problem is he plays footy in an era of weak bodied squibs and soft utensil$.

He wont go for this "incident" nor will he go for about the 5 other acts that are just courage and not worth a replay when its hodge or buddy, its just unsocial, would have to stop replaying Embley for a minute to look at them to see how bad they are.

Why don't Swans have a no DHs fans policy?

Guilty. 4 weeks.

How many other players is this guy gonna snipe and disguise it as "hard football".
Dogs act just like twice last week. Throw the book at him.
Like has been mentioned though, just like last week, his channel 7 mates have already got him off.
Tom Harley couldn't defend him quick enough. #Boys club.

lol carlton supporters can't we just make up and share our hatred for essendon supporters
your anger for losing last week due to the umpires giving hawthorn an easy ride is clouding your judgement, Hodge does not perform 'dog act's every week, he is just hard at the ball, unlike most of Carlton Essendon these days

Bloody hell

The way people were carrying on you'd swear it was a reenactment of the Judd incident

at Hodge did happens every game, and as someone stated, isn't a chickenwing tackle

KFC, RED ROOSTER, NANDOS , CHICKEN TREAT , more chicken wings there then what Hodge did .
Zero penalty

Isn't it always a risk that, if you lift the arm to try and draw your tackler's arm into a high contact, you assist the movement away from the body and since the tackler is behind applying a force towards the tackler, the arm is likely to go backwards and twist?

If the tacklee applies force away from themselves, trying to break the tackle away from the tackler, it wouldn't be a problem.

Moral of the story; if the arm isn't trying to flip up to draw high contact the elbow won't get behind the back.
You are dead right. In both cases in Wookie's video the player tries to raise their elbow to cause the tackle to shift up but Hodge squeezes tight and so the arm goes back. Gee people like to whinge about nothing.

Faarkenhell dude, give it a rest, your like a broken record

Wow, that video is hilarious. So we're comparing 2 piece of play where the player is attempting to fight through a tackle and a tackler trying to hold on as best they can to a player lying defenceless on the ground, being held stationary in a tackle when a third man in bends his arm up behind his back. Carlton fans, seriously delusional.

Also, last night might show you how you can lose a free kick count and still win a match. Dry your eyes boys, it's been a week already.

Hodge should of been suspended for last weeks indiscretions, but the chicken wing looked mostly accidental and I don't think his intention was to hurt Scooter.
