Bomber obviously rates him as the best of the fringe sort of players Duncan included in that bracket as he was drafted in 06 and didn't play a game in 07 or 08 and going by that numerous other guys who havn't played a game for a few years have gotten delisted but he stuck by him. Finally he has gotten his chance and whenever a few guys go out the fringe players come in but when a couple of our stars return he is now usually still in there as the 23/24 best player for us this was proven when he was selected in the qualifying final last year. As a player I don't see much of him he is always in the middle of a handball chain and never really stands up I think it's just the fact that our stars just cover for him as they do for other fringe players and thats how he survives but when exposed like against Adelaide the reality comes and it shows that he aint got the skill required for the game. With his 50 disposal game in the VFL I think it just proves that he is a VFL player and nothing more hopefully he can prove me wrong though thats just my take on him.

His problem isn't the ability to find the ball. It's what he does when he has it.

I just think that's a role thing. Plenty of clubs have players with limitations and they still serve the team well so long as they play in a role that is suited to what they are and what they're not. Plus Hogan is still young so he'll improve his decision making as he gets more experience.

No, he won't. Quickly making correct decisions on a footy field is not a skill that you can learn. You either have it or you don't.

He's supposed to have great endurance and be pretty quick, isn't he? If so, he should get in the gym for the next couple of years and become a tagger to replace Ling when he retires.

He's an absolute liability playing through the midfield at the moment, though.

Fair enough. You and I shall agree to disagree then.

On the other bit, yeah, while he has been stalled by a back injury this year, Hogan is known for his endurance running and is fairly quick. His detractors around here generally refer to him as a great athlete and a crap footballer (not that I agree with that, but I've read it a lot). He did make an ok fist of the tagging role in the one game he did it (Priddis) and he could make it there if he can bulk up (although given his back injuries, I'm not sure how advisable that is), might be his best shot as you say.

When Hogan played his first handful of games he was obviously underdevloped but seemed to have a little potential.

My criticism of him is that while he may have added a few more kgs to his frame since then, and developed physically in general, he still seems rather weak and unable to get much of it in hard games. I'm not sure he'll improve much in this regard, and he certainly doesn't have a host of other, redeeming, qualities, to get excited about.

50! ****en hell! Last person I heard that got 50 touches in the two's was Carazzo. Make of that what you will.
Thought Koulouriotis and Tenace may have pushed it once or twice.

This statement only paints half the picture. When a player gains experience and grows in confidence it has the effect of allowing them more time with the ball in their hands for better decision making.

T Varcoe is improving before our very eyes and is only just beginning to make clever decisions with the ball.

Lonergan's decision making and awareness has improved ten fold this year. Certainly not his strong suit, but it proves it can be done.

Personally I think Hogan's 'base' is not as bad as Lonergan's (decision making wise), so I have confidence that with hard work he'll improve.

Think we can safely assume, he can play a little.
Wonder which club we'll give him away too?

Why in the heck would we give him away?
