We are undefeated with a percentage of over 200 (yes we played Melbourne, but average teams simply do not win by 140+ points. Just does not happen). We have come home with the points from two of the toughest road trips out there, accounting for the best SA and WA teams respectively.

Just let that sink in for a minute.

We have not had a team that could do this for a decade. The struggling bombers of 2005 - 2011 are a thing of the past. We are becoming the club again that we all grew up with.

Go you Bombers you ****ing good thing!!!

2 years ago we would've probably choked against Melbourne, and then lost both interstate games because... well they were interstate.
Yep and on another note, we have just got key injuries and probably suspensions to three key position players, and we are like "what ever, gives us a chance to play X, Y and Z who are all killing it at VFL". Who else could lose their ruck, full back and centre half forward and have such good replacements ready?

:D

In all seriousness, if you told me that we would be 3-0 with a percentage over 200 when the draw was announced, I wouldn't have believed you. Very happy with the start of the year, but let's remember that it is just that; The start of the year.

Thought it was a forward, forward and ... - uh, where does Kommer play? Half back?

"Buttt... buttt... buttt... Essendon are druggies & will lose all their premiership points so this all means nothing!" *

* The average delusional opposition supporter reaction to Essendon winning. So many ASADA employees/experts coming out of the woodwork! Makes it sweeter.

Demitro said somewhere "Essendon will not loose premiership points this year"
so he's stupid

Great start and last night was epic, but we had a great start to the season last year as well. But then again, why not dare to dream of a top 4 finish?

But so good that Carlton are 0-3, work will be so sweet on Monday morning.

Means nothing if we lose to St. Kilda. Who knows what may come out of the investigation so we simply have to keep winning.

That said, brilliant start thus far and in many ways, I actually think the ASADA investigation has had some benefits. It's forced us to be a very professional side in regards to how we handle the media and in turn, we've been able to express this professionalism in each game. Two massive interstate victories after trailing by something like 21 and 37 points respectively and a completion demolition of Melbourne.. something I haven't seen the likes of since the 2000 season or there abouts.

As for individuals, they've been really impressive. I don't want to overrate our midfield but I feel that it's very underrated in general circles. Watson is probably still the only genuine A grader (excluding BJ here), though Zaharakis, Howlett, Stanton, Hocking, Heppell, Myers and whoever else is considered part of the midfield group have really delivered so far. Howlett probably the best of the lot considering the dramatic improvement. Goal kicking mids are so important these days and he's chimed in with some very timely goals.

Ryder and Bellchambers are combining brilliantly. Both pose a big threat in the forward line and while Ryder is our best ruckman, Bello isn't bad by any stretch. I'm not going to go into comparisons but it feels good to have two very good ruck options.. just wish Paddy was more motivated at times.

The defence is the best in god knows how long. Fletcher is Fletcher and may he continue to play forever but in Carlisle and Hibberd we've found two gems who look to be the future. Add a certain Goddard who's delivered so far and brings much needed on field leadership. Dempsey was shank central last night but his run off halfback will come in handy throughout the season.

The forward line is oddly our weakest point currently but it'll click eventually. We just need consistent output across the board and we'll do alright. That we've got forwards dominating in the VFL makes things even sweeter.

Lastly there's something to be said of the kids. Guys like Kommer, Merrett, Colyer, etc. They've shown that they can fit in and play a role. Massive bonus to have and it just adds to the depth of the team. Kommer may turn out to be the steal of the draft if he continues his current form up.

Yep, all things are pointing to promising signs though I'm very mindful of the investigation and its potential implications. It could easily shoot us back to square one and hinder us for the next few seasons but hopefully, it won't be that severe. Only time will tell, so what better way to fill in that time by playing an exciting and winning brand of football.

Makes me very happy.

At the start of each year I will count through all the games that we "should" win on the fixture. Whenever we win those that we shouldn't, the % of games that we need to win to get into the finals becomes smaller. Of course we tend to **** that up by losing games that we should win...

My personal favourite is old mate on the gameday thread who seems actually convinced that Essendon are running on residual PEDs taken last year.
OK fella :thumbsu:

Plus, the players were injecting peptides at halftime and slaughtering live pigs to extract tissue from their brains which they then injected into each others' stomachs. Hirdy was first in line, of course.

And it wont stop what ever success Essendon has in the near future will be 'Tainted' from people who have half a brain.I say stuff them if anything the players are thriving from it. The resilience from the club all the way down to the players has been amazing and i'm damm proud to be an Essendon supporter.

I suppose it makes the tears more plentiful and delicious.

It's nice.

But it's Round 3.

Agreed. We can't get carried away, the season is a marathon.
The drugs issue aside, the current administration has done a great job with this football club, and what started as a buzz 2 years ago is building and building.
