I can offer proof to some extent Mobbenfuhrer

When I worked as an Insurance Agent for Elders Pastoral, we used to insure many Stud Bulls for Mortality and Loss of Use by way of illness or accident.

The Loss of Use component was a fairly common cause of claim on these policies, when a Stud Bull breaks his penis from an accident, he can no longer service the heifers and cows, this means the Stud Bull is left with a meat value only left on him, his value as a champion sire has gone.

A Bull can break his penis several ways, if he tries to mount a cow and she turns on him, I had a claim where a Bull tried to jump a fence, he caught his erected penis on a barb wire fence, breaking it. Most common though was where a Bull tried to mount a steer or another bull, in the process getting a broken penis.

All in all, my time in rural areas was a sharp leaning curve for this born and bred city slicker

Having read testimonies from 3 different posters, I suppose it seems pretty well likely it might be fair dinkum!

The word sodomy comes from Sodom, so it seems likely. (Haven't got a bible to refer to).

.

It seems likely, but I repeat my question.

Where in the Bible does it say that homosexuality was what was happening in Sodom and Gomorrah?

I guess it comes down to the fact, that I'm an intelligent and educated person, unlike yourself.

Why am I not surprised that the only thing you can add to this discussion is a poorly constructed disparaging comment? Moron.

It probably doesn't. I don't know for sure, but you'd probably find that the word "homosexual" is one of fairly recent origins (or at least after Biblical times). So, perhaps in those times, "sodomy" was the word that was used, after the incident in question, and then later, further vocabulary was adapted.

It's like the word dinosaur. The word dinosaur was only "invented" a couple of centuries ago. Yet, the Bible refers to "behemoth", which by the description given tallies with that of a certain dinosaur (although, some Bibles credit this to being and elephant or hippopotamus - although the description says the animal had a tail like a CEDAR tree, haven't seen too many hippos or elephants with tails of that nature! ).

Similarly, there were other words for dinosaurs, before that particular word was formulated, including lizard, dragon, etc. In fact, there is some evidence to suggest that there have been some "relatively" recent human-dinosaur interactions.

Don't tell me, he turned into a RED BULL?

I don't agree with it, although I do understand that other mammals/animals display homosexual tendancies. I am by no means a religious goon. A question for you all though, do you think someone is born a doughnut maker? or, do you think it is the way they are brought up?

People are born gay. It comes natural to them just the same as hetrosexual males are naturally attracted to women.

That's what I think as well. I'm sick of hearing people say it's becuase they way they are brought up. To me, it just dosen't cut it.

Why is it being against homosexuality suddenly "ignorant"
Every time anyone expresses this view they are bombarded wtih condescending new age "Redneck/Ignorant fool" rhetoric.

Bluey if you opened your eyes you wouldve realised I was referring to that in my post

My point is this. It doesn't say in the Bible that that was what they were doing, whether using the word 'homosexuality', or sodomy or anything else.

It's a myth. The Bible does not say that the sin of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah was homosexuality. It was interpreted that later.

In Cuba we used to catch the homosexuals using little boys as bait. Then we would put them in boxes and put them to work making cigars. Luckily Lucy saved me from that fate. The only good thing she ever did for me

You also have to remember, that the old Testament was written in Hebrew, then translated into other languages.

I am not 100% sure, but it's fairly likely that the word for Sodom in the original Hebrew text, is also the same word used for acts of sodomy, which may also be the same word in Hebrew for homosexuality (most likely given after the event, thus the interpretation).

There are quite a number of instances where the contemporary translation of the Bible, into any language, does not really do justice to the original Hebrew and Greek texts.

I'd say the example is fairly similar really, to people being called "vandals". The original term was coined, deriving from a group of warriors by the same name who used to loot and pillage.
