G'day football fans, HotSausage69 here. As most of you would be aware, the AFL have today announced nine new rule changes for 2019. It has been met with mixed feelings, largely negative, however the easing of the hands in the back rule has been widely received as a good move. I've come up with some rule changes of my own that I feel would add to the spectacle of the game and would like some feedback.
1. The rage cage. The rage cage is an 'anything goes' 4x4m wire cage situated in front of the interchange that players are sent to if they're naughty. The players also have the option of entering the cage by choice where they will be free to fight opposition players without the consequence of being suspended. This allows players to blow off some steam without it impacting the play and gives the fans an added spectacle on game day.
2. Fresh socks each quarter. The players will be required to change their socks each quarter. This prevents their sock from becoming too dirty and each pair can be auctioned off for charity at the end of the game.
3. The powerplay. The powerplay is a period of 5 minutes that a team can put an extra 2 players on the ground. It can be implemented at any stage of the game but only one team at a time can use their powerplay. A big red button will be set up in the coaches box that can be pressed, causing sirens and flashing red lights to appear on the playing field that signifies the team is in a powerplay. Could see some interesting tactics evolve over time. Do you send the extra numbers around the ball? Need an extra in defence or up forward? Boom. Powerplay.
Good ideas or leave the game alone?
