dont think u will see hoops down back much this year!!!

think wing to HFF is his spot. he should be either kicking goals or kicking it deep to a forward with his pin point kicks.

thats i think his most damaging spot!!

in regards to Brown, i think Scotland, Grigg or a Hadley might get the job on him!!! unless someone like Anderson, Armfield get a game!!

Scotland isn't tight enough to play on Brown.
Anderson would be great, but hasn't done much pre-season so I'm not sure if he's fit or not. His last game vs Doggies he smashed Eagleton, would be nice to see something similar.

Armfield a possibility, but in his firt game?

Others to get a look in would be Banno and Jackson (though Jackson might get a pure onballer)

I hope Hoops gets more of a run up forward and off the wings/flanks.

This board seems to be getting a little overly Brown conscious.

With good reason thylacine. Prior to his leg being broken, we found him very difficult to match up on. My preferance would be Bannister, as he did a good job on Johnson and Cornes last year.

Not to sound dirty, but if someone were to make him run around all day to earn his goals, perhaps he may need a spell for that leg of his. A break like that never gets back to 100% (and yeah ino, thinking a bit too elaborate but use your imagination!). I havn't had a good post in a while and I'm trying to pick my spots with genious.

I think you pretty much have to give Richo and Brown 2-3 each.

I agree. Anything more than 3 for both of them, and they have had a good day. I just don't really see where their other threats come from, unless guys like Schultz, Pettifer or Deledio have a blinder.

Should Carlton be able to kick more than 12-13 goals, I reckon we'd just about have Richmonds measure.

Brown is too clever for Bannister. Bannister is good in straight lines but not as agile as Brown. I think we'll need to pick a young defender to play as tight as they can and do their best.

Richmond has a number of these mid sized half forwards that can hurt on their day but rarely do, Brown is the best of these. Brown, Morton, Deledio and Pettifer each require a tight rein, but if held, Richmond is no chance.

Bannister won't be playing deep defence this year IMHO, he'll be in midfield or wing as a tagger

Playing Houlihan on Brown would be akin to committing footballing suicide.

Houlihan at the best of times is incredibly unaccountable. Being unaccountable on a fit Brown ready to lift the Tigers isn't a smart move at all.
Aaron Davey would disagree.;)

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

What did Hoops keep him to in that game? 4 disposals?

I suppose that's because Davey is so slow and doesn't know where to run to get the ball -nothing to do with Hoops' shut down job on him

1 effective disposal which was a FREAK goal over his head against the behind post.
Hoops also did a great defensive job on Heath Black, Cornes (the little runty one) and McLeod which kept us in both games.

He can be VERY accountable. I like him as a defensive forward as when the turnover comes he can really hurt teams going the other way, but he is not lost deep in the backline.

I can only hope that they banish him from the back half, too loose for me down there. Play him through the midfield and across HFF where he can punish the opposition with his silky skills.

Keep only 1 sweeper in Scotland down back who you can allow a bit of space for to create and set up attacking moves with.

I think with the recruiting of Browne and Armfield at the last draft and Anderson the draft before that this is an indication that we need a few genuine defenders down there. I would like to see at least Armfield and/or Browne get a first up crack down there with Anderson still coming back from injury.
