Intriguing question GD'ers.
Currently Im Housesitting ATM for my cousin and his wife whilst they are away.
They have a dog who comes as part of the house sitting package.
In the past 3 days the stupid dog has escaped three times once through the front doors( which was my fault) twice it has dug up holes in the backyard which has been renovated before they left.
All Three times it has come close to being run over by cars and ive saved it.
Should I invokle the natural evolution clause, the next time it escapes as it is that dumb to run accross the road?

If you've locked everything up and it still escapes, leave nature to run its course. You can't be a 24/7 babysitter for the thing

You might not get on with your cousins if you let the dog get run over.

You could always tie the dog up

???

If it does get runover, just buy an identical dog and don't tell them.

TV has told me this never fails.

all jokes aside you are responsible for the house inc "the dog "you getting a house rent free (l guess) so find away to keep the dog in the yard.even if you have to spend little money to do it.worse case tie the dog up and a long lead or even on a run.

I don't think date raping your cousins' dog is going to particularly endear you to them.

stronger insomnia treatment than stillnox, will safely knock the dog out so that it cannot escape and get run over or cause trouble by barking etc.

i'm not suggesting anything to do with rape. just a means of protecting the dog until the owners get back because i don't think they will like having their dog get run over.

Are you walking the dog, showing it some affection? The animal is bored and misses its owners. Entertain it.

Let the dog sleep in the bed with you, only feed it when it sits down and play with its butt 3 times a day at 5 hour intervals....after doing this it will learn to trust you and will not run out the front door again

This.

Go for a run and bring the dog along. Most dogs dig as part of their boredom.

If it is bored when you're not there, go buy a kong toy. They keep them entertained.

Call your cousin and ask them if the dog usually escapes, and what they do when it does.

Or just lock all the gates, and look out for the dog when you open doors?

Sounds like it's bored. You need to walk the dog for as long as the owners do, every day. Depending on the dog it will probably also want to play when you're home too. This can be as simple as throwing the ball while you're sitting down with a cold one in the hand (dog will bring it back if it want's to play). Sure-fire way of keeping the dog entertained for a couple of hours is to buy the dog a lamb shank. They spend ages trying to lick the marrow out of the shank.

Point Noted the dog spends its days pawing the window endlessly when Im not there
The problems I have is three fold- one it only gets walked once a week so as such its a fat bastrad.... so I dont want to walk it more then once a week
2- not so concerned about the cousin, hes a copper if anyone will buy the natural evolution arguement it will be him its his kids that Im worried about I dont want the whole waterworks shenaingans
3- It usually sleeps inside so the first night I let it slept inside I got bugger all sleep as it spent the whole night barking when i throw it out the only barking it does is early in the morning when it wants in, am i obliged to let it sleep in the house.
