I just wanted to start a thread!

18 straight wins, a stellar effort. People may say we're not "contenders" and are merely just making up the numbers in the playoffs, that's fine. But to the guys that have said we've notched up these 18 against average teams, I find that a pretty weak comment. Especially Charles Barkley who was trying to be arrogant and saying Houston have no chance against Dallas. I think he was trying to be bold like Steve Smith but he just ended up looking like an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Anyway, next game New Jersey. When will it end?

18 is a hell of an effort, considering they also lost probably their best player during the streak.

It's a shame Yao is injured and it's down to T-Mac to win in the 1st round.

21. If this were the Lakers, Boston or San antonio, everyone would be having an orgasm. but for the rockets no-one seems to mind on here.

anyway, I can't see us getting past the Lakers in the games for 22. They'll be keen to put an end in the chase for the Lakers streak. But the way the guys are playing with their excellent D, we're in for a shot.

Adelman should get coach of the year. Everyone was expecting the rockets to drop, but we'll be there at playoff time.

i think we got a extremely good chance at beating the lakers, without gasol and bynum scola, landry and mike harris will tear them apart, hell even mutombo might get a few hookshots

Houston have no chance to win the title. They are without Yao Ming for the rest of the season, and without a big man in the West, you won't get anywhere come playoff time.

everyone who makes the playoff has a chance to win it...

but i can't see us winning it unless both yao and tmac are healthy, hopefully next year they can stay injury free

21 games in a row is amazing. Unbelieveble in fact

Espeially cos nobody saw it coming

But they will be gone in the 1st round.. still its a nice little subplot to what has been a pretty eventful NBA season

22 wins straight, this Rockets team is for real. They may not be the 'sexy' pick, due to their lack of big name talent (apart from McGrady), but what this Rockets team has is a system in place which can make any single player on any given night a threat, the motion offense being used by Adelman allows players to get a range of open looks and easy baskets, add to this their strong defensive principles still left over from JVG and this team is legit. Oh and another thing this team has is belief, and heart, two qualities which should never be underrated. Celtics vs Rockets is shaping up to be a great game, 1st in West vs 1st in East. Cant wait!

i still go on record as saying the Rockets are a little lucky during this streak, and that they won't do anything come playoff time. T-Mac will find a way to choke in the first round again. i hope he doesn't, but something tells me he will.

does this get Rick Adelman over the line for Coach of the Year?
I think so mate, this is an absolute stellar performance by Rick, to get the team back on track, we all thought that it was down hill for the Rockets when Yao got injured...didn't we?

Rafer Alston has averaged 17.3 points since Yao got injured, Carl Landry has averaged 13.8 points, Luis Scola 12.3 points and 8 boards also T-Mac has averaged 24.3 points and has carried his team to 22 straight wins, the 2nd longest winning streak in NBA history.

That has got to get Rick the Coach of the Year Award!!!

Nope. The run has been amazing, no doubt

But its more emotion than anything Adelman has done. They are riding on a high, and have been able to run and gun sicne Yao went down (which suits them a lot better)

I have no doubt Houston will be gone in the 1st round. Nothing against them. If they face anyone besides GS or New Orleans, they are gone

I think the West will finish like this

1. San Antonio
2. Utah
3. Lakers
4. Houston
5. Dallas
6. Phoenix
7. New Orleans
8. Denver

GS will miss out just. Denver will make it, but will obviously go down in 4 games vs S.A

Jazz will handle the Hornets in 4 or 5 games

Lakers should beat Phoenix in 5 or 6

Houston will have real problems with Dallas. Mavs in 6.

Yes I believe so, when you compare what he has done so far to the other candidates he stacks up pretty well against them.

Rick Adelman- currently has a Yao-less Rockets team on a 22 game winning streak (2nd all time longest winning streak), the Rockets are sitting in first place in the ridiculously tough Western conference with a record of 46-20, no big name players apart from TMAC just hustle role players and rookies who can fill their roles in Adelman's system perfectly.
Phil Jackson- he definately shouldn't get it, how can your team not have a record of 45-21 when you have players like kobe bryant, pau gasol, lamar odom and andrew bynum.
Byron Scott- record of 44-21, in my opinion coach of the year if Adelman does not win it due to their turn around from last year, however in saying that a team with Paul, Chandler, West and peja is still more talented than the rockets team.
Doc Rivers- record 52-13. They are first in the weak Eastern conference,If he wins however, the award is a joke. KG, Allen and Pierce not to mention Cassel, Rondo, Posey. This team has so much talent that they probably don't even need a coach to get over 50 wins, Doc Rivers has been solid but they are not currently 52-13 because of his coaching. However Danny Ainge for GM of the year is looking pretty good right about now.

All this can change however based on how the rest of the season goes, however in my opinion Coach of the year is currently Adelman's to lose.

Alot of people have been saying Houston are going to exit in the first round like last year. Before that, people were saying they're not even going to make the playoffs. Well I guess it just comes down to which Houston comes out on the night. At the moment though, our defence is solid and on our day we can match any of those teams.

But hey, there is alot more pressure on other teams(Mainly Dallas and Phoenix) to perform in the playoffs this time. Houston will come in underdogs which suits.

It doesn't get it for me.

However if the Rockets win 3 of their next 6 games than my opinion of the Rockets will change greatly.

Of course this is assuming they don't play against every team missing 2 of their best players.

This streak is one of the most incredible ever. I rode them off with Yao went down, and they have managed 10 or so wins since then. Even more amazing!

As soon as they start to choke, they could very easily fall right out of contention. It only takes one bad week in the west to lose home court advantage in the first round.

why aren't you posting under your old username, yze_magic?

in any case, I don't think any of your predictions are even close to right.

all of the seedings will turn out to be wrong and if your predicted match-ups did occur most results would differ from what you suggest.
