How did you become a Crows supporter?

I was 6 when the Crows came in, I was a Glenelg fan since day one and never really knew of any VFL allegences, although Dad says he was a Carlton man prior to 91.

As soon as the Crows came in, he was an Adelaide man, and so was i.

Went to first game as a Hawthorn Supporter. I was 11. Went for the Hawks as i liked Dunstall and Bereton. No reall allegience to them jsut liked those two. Went to the 1989 GF but too young to appreciate it. So I was there for game one cheering on the Hawks. Crows thrashed them. The Crows gained a four memebers that Monday Morning.

Always watched the games on tv, up until 95, when I attended my first game vs the Kangaroos. It was pouring with rain, and Wayne Carey got stretchered off. SInce that day I have hardly missed a home game. Winter wouldnt be the same without the Crows.

IIRC it was a bloody hot Saturday afternoon back in January 1991 and I had been annoying my Mum all bloody day. To try and shut Sammy (my next door neighbour) and me up we went to this new game called football.

Before the Crows my mum disliked the football immensely. It took me a whole 2 seconds to be engrossed in the game, it took her 5 years.


But now the passion for the club is lit and burning strongly.

I was born in Canberra and I supported Carlton (because my dad supported Collingwood ) and then I met hubby (who was born in South Australia and a true blue South Adelaide supporter) in 1979 and he also supported Carlton. Easier when we had so many South Aussies in the team. It was a natural progression to join Adelaide the minute of inception. Had a soft spot for Carlton for a short while, but not after 1993!

Was a footy girl from the age of 10 (many years ago). Unfortunately the first game I saw was a Port game on TV, sort a took them on as my team, much to the disgrace of my father and brother who were Westies and Sturt supporters. Joined the cheer squad and all (cringe) but desperately wanted a team in the Afl. Crows joined and the rest is history. Tried to support the creepy other team and be "a South Aussie supporter" but couldnt do it. My heart, soul and loud supporting voice will always be with my Crow boys. I met my partner going to the games (back in 93) and we have an 11 year old boy who is also a huge crows supporter (goody's his fav player).

I also support Port in the SANFL...dont get to many games but still like the Black and White....But not the Powderpuff Franchise.

Rabid Glenelg supporter allmy life still proudly am and used to follow Carlton in VFL because of sticks.
Crows came calling on me in 90 and havent looked back.
I only get to 2 games plus a final if we have one each year as part of a package from work and get to go to suite 1 which is nice but id rather go more often. (my employer has being doing work around Aami stadium for a few years now,and is friends with a lot of the port people- no accounting for his taste.)
When I was younger I used to go heaps but have never been a fullmembership holder.
The only team for all south aussies because any decent south aussie hates the !@#king magpies,of the sa and vic kind.

I got my first taste of footy in 1992 when i watched a state of origin game with my dad. In 1993 I took much more interest in the crows and watched every game. We even made the trip up to go to a game. and i got to see Modra kick a bag vs Melbourne.

My dad used to barrack for North Melbourne before Adelaide came into to league. It was because Nth Melbourne had a lot of SA based players. IE Blighty, Cornes, Ebert etc

First game I went to was in 1992 against Collingwood at Footy Park. I didn't have much intrest in footy back then but I remember it was an absolutley electryfing atmosphere the noise of the crowd and all that in fact it was much louder than today. Then the following years ahead though I used to like watching Modra I spose, some of the marks he took. Once we won our first flag I became a mad supporter and there has been many ups and downs over the journey. I was born in Adelaide but moved to Tasmania late 1990s.

Well I was born the year the Crows were formed, so my passion stemmed mainly from my dad when I was in primary school. He used to play for Sturt and followed a couple of teams in the VFL before signing up for a Crows membership in 1990.

I remember getting really excited in 97 watching the grand final on TV and also in 98 when we had a Crows dress up day at school. Of course in 98, we won the premiership again so we went around to my neighbours and everyone was so delighted, I decided I wanted in on the action. I guess this would have been the point when I started to take note, started going to games and fell in love with Tony Modra (at the tender age of 8 ). Needless to say, I was extremely upset when he left.

My brother and I used to alternate going with my dad each week, but when I got upset every second week that I was missing out, he gave me the ticket full time. And I guess things have just snowballed form there

Ahh yes year of the horse. Good year that.

Best memories of the GF's. The first one I went to in 97, the few memories I actually have of the day is catching a tram full of Crows supporters, singing the song. Going to a pub before hand an putting money in a duke box and playing the Richmond song?? And then at the game itself seeing the balloons, cars and then ending up watching the big TV screen. Ended up getting a fully signed poster and scarf.

My dad told me a few months back that Melbourne was full of Crows supporters, and at the end of the game going back to catch a train later at night the city was bascially empty, except for a few kids. They told us to leave there city. haha.


1998 we had a party at our farm. Only a few people. Went ballistic when they won, I still didn't really understand the game though. ran down to the road an cars were beeping there horns and people hanging out the car and cheering. Later on we went down the main street and our friends held a big party. The main street was LITTERED with Red Blue and Yellow. people were carrying flags and all sorts. From what I remember the party went till late, everyone was smashed. Good times

Didn't really have a VFL team prior to the Crows though I watched plenty on tv. Massive Sturt fan so I just followed whichever players we had who had gone over there (Todd and Jay Viney - Melbourne, Damian Kitschke - St Kilda, Scott & Kym Russell - Collingwood, David Welsby - Geelong, Andrew Underwood - Ess/Rich, Carl Dilena - Fitzroy/NM, Greg Whittlesea - Hawthorn, Bruce Lennon - Richmond and maybe a few others, can't remember). Liked Carlton for a while because Peter Motley was my favourite player, but then...

When the Crows were formed they had (from memory) Scott Field and Jason Bastian from Sturt in their 'expanded' squad but neither made the final list so I thought bugger them, no Sturt players = no support from me. I said then that I'd barrack for Carlton.

That lasted right up until dad got tickets for the first Crows game. Massive crowd, awesome match and I was hooked. Season tickets from 1992 onwards and have rarely missed a game since.
