Yeah, I'm back, after a good break. Now, I'm definitrely ready for a year of Footy.

But what's coming up...The Wizard Cup. We won it last year, yet we did not make the 'real' Grand Final.

Is it just me or did we push too hard too early? Did we give our all to soon? Did we burn ourselves out too quickly? My answer is yes.

This year, I think we should take it easy. Try to win the first game, allowing our younger players to get at least 2 games of footy. But we should stop there. After the Wizard Cup in 2003, we became arrogant, and this was shown in Round 2.

We should give our young players a go, try to win a match, and perform well, but we should not burn ourselves out too quickly.

Your thoughts?

In my opinion what you guys need to do is start the regular season really badly, and come home with a wet sail so the players can't get ahead of themselves by seeing themselves in the prelim before Round 20.

Wiz Cup form can be indicative of a good start, so maybe just let Port win it. Cheers ;)

We have to be extremely careful in the next 6 or so weeks. I wouldn't go in with the attitude to win the Wizard Cup as we did last year but I would go with the attitude to win every game.

The way I would approach it is to not rely on the experienced players to get us home. I would still play experienced players but I would let youngsters take a lot more workload. Personally I would play the likes of Roo, Goody, Bunji and Edwards on the flanks up forward and in defence and roate them throught the middle on occasional basis and let the likes of Reilly, Johncock, Ladhams, Schuback and Skipworth play mostly in the midfield.

Give youngsters like Hentschel and Scott Stevens and even Jericho some games.

The last thing we need is to start the season off slowly. We must start the season really well because of a tough draw. If we start slowly our season could well be over by the half way mark.

Give youngsters a LOT of ground time and "nurse" the experienced players through the Wizard Cup.

Having said that I think we are a good chance to lose against St. Kilda. They will want iot more that we would and I get the feeling we might be a bit flat after the trial in a very hot weather.

No excuses if we lose against St Kilda. How can they possibly want the first AFL hit-out of the year more than us or any other side for that matter. Every team should be as keen as mustard first-up.

9 days between the Norwood trial of 80 minutes with no time on and St Kilda - no reason for being flat.

We'll be fielding a very strong team on our home ground. If they win it'll be because they're a better team IMO.

I just get the feeling we are not as hungry to do well in the wizard cup as we were last year. I think we realised that Wizard Cup probably came back to haunt us late in the year.

I wouldn't be fussed at all if we lose against St. Kilda. It's not the real stuff. To be honest I would prefer us to give youngsters a real go and whether we win lose or draw I would be fine with that.

I want us firing come round 1 so we can have a good start of the year and late in the season when it really counts. What happens in the wizard cup has should not affect us in season proper what so ever.

BTW, who gets Reiwoltd and Milne??????

Kenny for Reiwoldt and Gallagher for Milne.

I agree that we shouldn't care whether we wi the Cup or not - that means stuff-all. I would like to win the first game though, as if we do the next game's at Aami Stadium as well.

Agree but we might need to change that match up if Reiwoldt plays on the wing.

Gallagher for Milne.
It will rain goals. Hart for mine

Good point but either way I wouln't be fussed. I would love us to win in every game we play but I wouldn't lose any sleep if we lose to St. Kilda.

Let's go back-to-back like Port did in 2001/2002.

I need my footy fix and I don't think the non-Wiz fiz practice matches get televised, so I'd like us to stay in the competition as long as possible.

With our draw we should walk into the semi finals.

In the semis, Brisbane looms as the likely opponent. That will be good test for us before the start of the season.

What I'm really hoping for is a Sydney-Adelaide final at Stadium Australia.
