One of the players that has been on our list the longest and this year has not presented or played with any physical pressure. I honestly think Edwards has done more when he played. Edwards was blocking for other players and presenting. What is going on with Fish???

fisher can generally find the ball ok but he couldnt kick over a jam tin to save him self.
Thought he was ok today but needs to stay closer to home to give fev a chop out imo.

I don't think he is escaping critisism. I foyu listen to a lot of supporters around the G. He has been in shocking form last 3-4 games. Really struggling for distance on his set shots. We really rely on him as a link up player, to take a strong mark around HFF or deep in the goal square. Any signs of his marking capabilities drop and he will have his turn in the magoos to out for Hartlett or Edwards

Fisher will never be any good if he stays close to home. Has no physical presence about him. We need a big body in front of Fev. Fish also seems to have absolutely no idea about leading inside the forward 50. Would not be surprised if we see him dropped to the 2s in coming weeks for a player like hartlett (praying he gets his body right) Edwards or Austin.

I think I said it in one of my post that he has been shocking. He need a break I think and he need to be shown that if you don't perform you get dropped. Same for Carrazzo and a few others we have some good kids performing well. We arent going to make finals so lets start rewarding performance and blood a few of our kids.

Considering the knee Fevola put into him I thought he came back ok.

Lovely left foot pass set Fev up for a goal, took a great contested mark in the goal sqaure for a goal.

What else is he supposed to do?

Correct. Reckon he needs to go no more than 30m out from goal. Pretty poor if you ask me that he can't kick much further without losing his accuracy. Have a feeling the club may shop him around at years end.

Is that enough for him to do though? I'd be asking of more.

IMHO he is very lucky that we dont have the saem (good) probelm is the forawrd line as we do the backline. We haev so many quality developing backline players but other than Fev and Eddie, we really dont have any stabilised forwards, or for that matter, competition for spots.

Forward line needs a CHF

What he did was not enough and hasn't been for a few weeks. Have to bring in a player from the 2's with some confidence and passion. Look what hughes and morton did for the tigers. I have been calling it all year and wouldn't be surprised if he was shopped around but he did sign a contract.

Plenty of Upside, He's overhead mark is a feature of his game but his kicking skills let his game down the most. Maybe a week with the Bullants would be better for his career because he's starting to become a senior part of the group and he's kicking skills havn't improved since he's first debut.

You have got it in one HBF.
Fisher should be instructed to stand in the goal square for the entire game. As he is an excellent one grab, contested mark he should drift out no further than, as you say, thirty metres from the goals. From this position he would be a nightmare for opposition coaches as he would always draw a tall defender to battle him in the air, which means that is at least one tall defender not concentrating on Fevola, which is always a good thing.
Fisher, can really only kick straight-ish over twenty-twenty five metres, so the goal square, in my mind, is the ideal spot to best utilise his main weapon, strength and timing in overhead marking contests.

Of course the forward line needs a CHF.

But that's not Fisher's problem because he's not a CHF anyway.

If he presents and they don't honour the lead that's not his issue.

Most of the time he presents he makes a contest of it and marks the majority put to him.

Not the greatest of set shots for goal but then the AFL is littered with those types of forwards.

Sending him to the VFL won't improve his kicking skills and all it does is rob the team of a good lead up player and another forward option.

His marking is a feature, but he really should stay in the goalsqaure, and maybe push Fev up the ground a little. See if that can work.

Maybe if Fev finds his range from outside 50 again his first quarter against Collingwood was an example to many kicks from outside 50.

Fisher is ok player and given he was pick 72 I try not to give him a hard time.

He is ideally a good 5th or 6th fwd however for us he is our 2nd best fwd

Fish really can't win a contested possession when he is up against a big body. He does sometimes hang onto some really big marks with his long arms though. For a CHF, he can't mark or kick particularly well.

Fisher is holding the worst injury for a marking player, anyone who knows anything about marking knows the thumbs are most important. They go behing the ball and must be very strong. Players who take strong marks do so because they have strong thumbs, players who don't have strong hands (thumbs) get more palm/fingers behind the ball and often take juggling marks and can't mark in a contest.

Fisher still wears the tape and probably carries pain. Probably needs a summer to get over it properly and get confident again. I didn't expect him to have a good year because of it.

He is also struggeling as our game plan going forward is directed to Fevola and not often enough to him.

He needs to find more footy at ground level and I would like to see him playing in the goal square and leading long and hard up the ground to deep half forward/wing area. He is more of a draw player for fev though, his lack of body size and strength are an issue and his kicking isn't great, just ok.

I can see him as a player who might be involved in a big trade but I wouldn't give him away easy as I'm sure he'll be much better next year.

Its not his marking, its his bloody kicking. How can a player be a forward and not be able to kick accurately or over 40metres... The worst thing is is that he leads up the ground and when he does take a mark at 50metres out he cant kick the goal. Has he played 1 good game this year???

but we signed him up for 2 or 3 years:confused: like last week
