Following the our "young players haven't improved thread" and another thread on BBlitz...

Coached Bendigo to zero wins, and by all reports is/was a shocking coach yet somehow gets promoted to one of the most important positions (development coach).

You need to ask the board. So many questions.

How is Knights coach when he's never been successful?

What is Campo doing?

Who appointed a coaching panel that is the worst in the leauge?

Who hands picks their assistants? errr, the coach.

We are like the tight arse multi millionaire who shops at Aldi.

Good to see ya back Kelv - a lot of questions need to be asked.

If the board decide that Knights is the man for the job, then the axe needs to fall underneath him.

You'd have to say Hickmott and Campo would be first in line, with GO'D not far behind.

Put Richardson back as a development coach, and get some Essendon people like Wellman back in the box. Throw everything at Lloyd to get him as an assistant. Scott Burns would be worth chasing as well, albeit not an Essendon person.

^^

Given that MK chooses his assistants/development coaches isn't that basically saying "We don't trust your judgment?"

Lots of concerns in the stock of our coaching panel but Hickmont is probably the biggest.

His addresses to the bendigo players became famouse for there hilarity last year. The bloke acttually sounds like he has cerebal palsy yet instead of pissing him of the EDFL we make him a developmnet coach, the core competency of this role being communication.

Very difficult to understand.

Great questions Kelvin, wish they would be answered tomorrow! As for our so-called assistant coaches,i've been amazed at who we've got! THEY ARE ALL NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

Been posted before but he had a supposedly good record with kids at U/18 level before he coach bendigo. FWIW Hickmott is still a better coach than Shannon Grant regardless of the winning percentage. Nobody but the players and inner sanctum could say whether or not the assistants are any good.

To add to this, if Simon Black happens to retire at seasons end, we should chase him as hard as possible for the role as midfield coach (providing he wants to go down that road of course).

Geeee,
I haven't been on here in awhile!

That's one thing I have been asking myself for a while,
why is he on the coaching panel after a win-less season at Bendigo.

Like Kelvin said,
a lot of questions need to be asked.

In defence of Hickmont (I do agree with the OP).

Hickmont at Bendigo was a joke. The Essendon injury list was joke, people were talking about us picking VFL players to play AFL football.

Hickmont and the other Assistant coaches need to go..

GoD has been in his role for how long now? Campo is just a washed up ex journeymen who 'would like' to be a coach, not necessarily is a coach..

I think we need to really make the hard decisions both on and off the field.

Axe the duds, trade the meh players, cut the long serving assistant coaches who have taken us nowhere..

AFL wins is money, money is everything in the AFL..

Let's just see if the board does the right thing

Yep.

IMO the assisstant coaches at Essendon should be shouldering just as much of the responsibility as Knights.

They have to go - GO'D, Campo, Hickmott - the lot of 'em - they have been a large part of our mediocrity over the past 5-6 years and it has to change.

I am not trolling here, just offering my opinion. I always considered blokes like Hickmott on Carlton's list back in 2002 was the reason they were on the slide. It was guys like him the were hindering the ability to get young talent or develop young players. Now he is completely ****ing up the development of Essendon young players.

He was a hard nut, but didn't have flare from memory and I don't think he was remembered for his skills.

He was a list clogger at his final years at Carlton, and when they went to the shit back in 2002, ironically he examplified there demized.

I don't know the guy but on face value how on earth did he end up as your development coach. Essendon were so forward thinking back in the nineties, I am completely dumbfounded at the decisions the footy club has made since 2000.

I am not trying to bait people here this is a genuine reply.

The age old saying of...

"The buck has to stop with.. "

And also; people want to be apart of the old...

"Blame game" for the demise of our organization...

I agree that the buck stops with the coach because in the end, he hand picks his assistants.

O'Donnell was a triple premiership assistant coach under Matthews at Brisbane. Few weeks back i heard Matthews say on a best of the decade show that it was O'Donnells instruction to get Akermanis under Alastair Lynch's feet because the ball kept spilling fwd and nobody was there. Aker finished with 5 goals for the day.

Well **** me, I'd hope he has had atleast a few moments in the sun as he has been in the coaching system for 10 years.

Great - and this helps us how?

GO'D is the man who sets up the defensive structures and we have been poo at this for far too long.

He needs to step down or be removed and fast track his ambition into becoming an admistrator.
