In your honest opinions, how much do we need to win by this week to gain any credibility out of the win?

Not that beating the Hawks in any sense isn't going to be a big accomplishment, but we all know that anything under probably 4 goals and the Hawks fans (and media) are going to discredit the win by saying Buddy would have been the difference etc etc.

I reckon we will win big for some reason, I'm very confident.

Thoughts?

I'm seeing this going 55/45 our way, just because of the calibre of opponents we've faced. But if we were to get a decent win, I'd be happy with five goals. No matter what happens, I'm sure everyone will say it would be a different Hawthorn if they had Buddy.

No win situation really this week. If we get beat by the Buddyless Hawks, the media will be writing us off (eh, who cares really?). We win, and it won't mean anything as they didnt have Buddy.

I personally just want a win. It was around this point in the season against St Kilda in 2010 where we really played well, without Cloke and smashed them by five goals. Hoping for a similar performance this Satruday.

I just want a win too. However, to answer op's question for fun, I want the Pies to win by 43 points or more. That way there can be no talk of Buddy making a difference of 7 goals.

This whole post is exactly how I feel.

Though I'm a little worried with the smalls, seeing what Carlton managed to do to us, twice. I think without Franklin, they are a little more unpredictable than I would like.

I believe we can win, but I'm somebody who never says we are certainties.

You dont read Dorks posts do you ;)

I do read some of their posts and I know that they have an over inflated opinion of their prowess. However, when I say they can't use Buddy as an excuse for a 7 goal loss, I'm referring to educated colleagues and friends with opinions I respect. Not the brainless twits which represents a big number of posters on the Dorks board.

1 point.

From here on in we play 6 of the current top 8 sides, and the one we don't play being Geelong, who we played on Saturday. Very tough drraw.

This is the end of a really tough five-week stretch. Before the WCE game how many would have been happy with 4 wins out of 5? I certainly would be.

We just need the 4 points and reload after the GWS game. After that we have another tough 5 week stretch:
St Kilda
Sydney (in Sydney)
North
West Coast (ine Perth)
Essendon

4 out of 5 there would be great as well.

For me, I don't care what the media or anyone else says about us. It's all about the bigger picture.

We just need to win, the margin is irrelevant. No disrespect but it is threads like this that make opposition supporters think we are arrogant.

While I'd be chuffed with the four points, I think a five goal win would be comprehensive.

I just want a win. Let's not talk about margins when we may not even win. I don't care what anyone says, a win is a win anyway. In terms of injuries, Hawks basically have Buddy and Hodge out , we have had an unsettled lineup all year, a couple of players who have just come back so need some time to get back to their best as well as Didak, Wellingham, Krakouer (who may still com back) and Johnson who aren't near Buddy's standard, but are still good players. Media talk means nothing anyway.

I think that a fortnight ago we got a chance to show how far we've come when we played Carlton after the rd 3 hiding, and we failed that big time. Now we have a chance to prove ourselves against another quality side. I don't think we will stuff up again like we did against the Scum but it will still be a great effort to win this game.

Arrogant thread, just need to win with no injuries and see a big improvement from Cloke.
What harm does a bit of arrogance do if it's on your own board? Seriously, it's our board and it has no bearing on the outcome
I am so over society being pc all the bloody time, so I don't mind a bit off arrogance on our own board. I think people need to lighten up a bit about this thread.

political correctness gone mad?

Tbh we can win by a kick and the media can bitch how Buddy didn't play and go on with their Hawthorn love-in like they have all year for all I care. Keep flying under the radar.

With such a close season every win is crucial. We need to make up for that loss to Carlton.

Hawks form is the best in the comp. at the moment, maybe with Sydney too, and we're still very patchy in areas (defending kick ins and getting caught out on the switch - incidentally probably the 2 things the Hawks do the best).
We need to start going forward fast in terms of form, we've got 40% more to give than what we're giving right now.
