I haven't seen much of Kouta of late, but no one seems to be questioning that he can still cut it at AFL level. But Carlton have an eye for the future, and sometimes that means the older players can have a lesser value at the club.
It would be great to pay the best players unlimited dollars, but the reality is that we have a salary cap and the more one gets the less another gets. Still Kouta deserves to be remunerated appropriately for his services.
What should Carlton pay him next year?
