I haven't seen much of Kouta of late, but no one seems to be questioning that he can still cut it at AFL level. But Carlton have an eye for the future, and sometimes that means the older players can have a lesser value at the club.

It would be great to pay the best players unlimited dollars, but the reality is that we have a salary cap and the more one gets the less another gets. Still Kouta deserves to be remunerated appropriately for his services.

What should Carlton pay him next year?

well i thought 200,000 was reasonable .. and i think some supporters may not agree with me but he has been over-paid for a while now so comeon anthony be fair .. ! and if he really loves footy as much as he says he does and if he really wants to play on he shouldnt give 10 fu**s if he was playing for 100,000 .. i no i wouldnt

Kouta is a legend of the club and his decision about whether to play on or not should not be made for him on the basis of an embarassing offer from a Board headed by a non-football person. Let him decide yes or no and then work out the money situation in private if it's yes.

He is worth a hell of a lot more to us than they've offered him. Lots of people go just to see him play. And think of all the kids with no 43 on their backs getting to see their idol for one more year of their lives. Imagine how hard you'd work in the gym if you were a young player and you had to run out next to Kouta every week! Fortunes will change a bit next year and he deserves to be part of it.:thumbsu:

$200,000 or retirement.

His choice.

Not anymore. The new fad with kids today is Fevola, he's the face of Carlton now. I was upset seeing how poorly Kouta played today, it is obivous this salary talk is affecting his footy. His old contract is finished, his best is past him and he won't be captain next year. If he contiunes his poor form, is he worth $300,000+ ? And considering what he got with his previous contract - $200,000 is not bad at all.

If you want to give him more because what he's contributed to the club, then look no further to his previous contract. He's always been one of my favourites and I love what he's done for the club, but his best is behind him, will not captain next year and is in poor form currently.

IMO, I think he will retire. Let's give him a good time for the remaining games. He's not playing too well and I think he would not continue if he doesn't enjoy where he is at.

Was crap today, time to hang up the boots Kouta - it's the right time :thumbsu:

Did you vote that he should get more than a million dollar salary before or after today's game?

Nice to see a public poll so you can see who voted. A WCE fan opting for the delist option. Stokesy being very tongue in cheek (I hope) with the $1m plus option.

Public polls...... Now I have to explain myself. :p

I voted for less than 200K. Simply put, he's taken enough money from this club, and if he wants to play next year, money shouldn't be his motivation.

You joking i would hope. This guys all class deserves to go out in style. He can still cut the mustard, and is the only player with CLASS in the team (followed closely by the FEV).

You are a gun Kouta. When it's time and you will know walk out with your head held high.

Phil

I voted de-list because there is no retire option

Just taking up a youngsters spot while allowing the opposition to run rings around him

I'm not blaming him - but the team comes first

Retirement would be my preferred option...........the last thing I'd want to see is another Justin Madden scenario where he retired only a few weeks into a season when the writing was on the wall that he'd be playing a fair amount of reserves football.

Has been a great of the club, but time to move on.

No I didn't vote for 1million.... my little bloody brother did! I always tell him to sign out of my name but he never does... I didn't realise it was public that's why I was thinking "what the hell are you blokes on about".

I've lost any credibility that I may of had :o
