How on Earth did Lynch kick 70 goals in 2006?

I have only stated that Woosh must be there in 2011.
We will see what happens after that. If he does re-ignite things as I think he will, then he might coach afterwards.
I was talking about the spirit and reslove aspect of structure

Your "By the way" comment seemed like your last sentence's thought was just tacked onto the end. I've never heard of spirit and resolve being mentioned as part of structure before. In that context, it makes no sense to me. No wonder the post was misinterpreted.

^ West Coast were the only team to play 4 finals that year, hence Lynch being the most finals goals.
Yeah that did help him but he still had to perform. Kicked 6 against the Dogs and 3 in the GF.

I also forgot Saints didnt make the prelim that year so Reiwodt wouldnt of got close anyway.

I agree that Lynch seems to be a confidence player. He drops his head and chastises himself often after simple errant shots on goal.

Sure it is great to have an elite midfield sending the ball at you consistently during a match but I think the lack of on field leadership over the last 2-3 years has affected Lynch more.

The mental resolve of Cousins, Chick, Judd, Banfield, Glass and Stenglein (even Hunter and, wait for it, Rowan Jones!) would have been important for many player's confidence and allowed Lynch to get the most out of himself.

Now it seems his shelf life is short.

for all lynch's faults - he didn't crumble on the big day!

looking at guys like Riewoldt, cloke etc - great forwards of our game - when it came to the big one - struggled to have an impact

now these guys are miles better footballers than lynch - but with some quality midfields - couldn't deliver what the big oaf did

remind us all , what did lynchy do on the big day.
there is an argument that if he was there in 2005 things may have been different.

Lynch was ok once upon a time. TBH I agree with some people, I didnt think he was shit til this year, didn't really mind him last year. I think he started going bad when he got dumped one game short of that consecutive games record

kicked 3 goals - which considering the low scoring mire that the sydney/saints gamestyle produces is actually a pretty good return

the 119 point walloping aside, that's as many goals as a key forward has kicked in a gf since 2002.

More than the likes of tredrea, riewoldt, cloke, brown, hall etc have kicked in GF's

As i said - he may now be a bit player at best - but he didn't wilt on the big day and kicked 3 straight.

hes been shit since 08. see the first few games he played as ff in that season and it will clearly show he was carried.

CR AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PPPPP!!

2008 was our Seminar season.

Nor one anti-Eagles judjement should be made,.
IF ONE DOES IT CAN ROT ONES BRAIN

Cats midfield id say is even with out 06 midfield, yet Mooney and Steve J never got 65 goals, Lynch had a good year in 06, 07, 08, 09 he was constantly in our top half across the season, anyone who disagrees doesnt know footy, as the man who posted the vid said he fell off when he lost confidence after being dropped and never got back.

At least he has played reasonable football for more then a year since Judd and Cousins left, not many other senior players can have the same said about them

He lost his strength. Remember seeing how ripped he was this season? Similar to Waters he lost his muscle along with fat and got those veins pumping.
WC caught up with the times and made him run more and put defensive pressure on opponents, unfortunately he lost his bulk and long bomb kicking power. There is no room for a dinosaur who sits in the forward line anymore especially with the new interchange. Unfortunately the game has passed him.

This thread is dumb.

He is a confidence player and had a bloody shocking year this year - hardly fair to rule a line through his whole career.

2005. After a stint in the backline/WAFL early on, he moved back to forward line in '05, kicking 31 goals in 23 games. Missed the GF in a terrible selection blunder - the likes of Gardiner, Gaspar and Staker were carried in to the game, all had kicked less goals that year and stank it up in the GF.

2006. Played every game, kicked 65 goals. Yes he had a great midfield getting him the ball, but it is ridiculous to assume that anyone can mark it and kick the goals. Supporters of this football club especially should know that! - our history isn't exactly flush with big goal kicking KPFs. He kicked bags and delivered in big games - 12 in the finals is a good return.

2007. Played at FF, but started to move up the ground a bit. Still bagged 52 goals. Surely this proves that 2006 was no fluke.

2008. Played in the midfield and across half-forward as there were basically no big bodies in the middle. Averaged 18+ disposals a game.

2009. Played in the ruck and where ever he was required as Cox was injured. Averaged 19+ disposals a game.

2010. Played mostly FF in a team where he was the 3rd avenue to goal, behind Le Cras and Kennedy. Was discouraged from pushing up the field like the last 2 years. Got dropped after kicking 3 in the opening round... never recovered mentally (he admitted as much in interviews). Had a terrible year.

If left at FF for his whole career, he probably would have another couple of 40+ goal years. He is an uncomplicated forward - he needs the ball to come to him. Up the ground, he can win his own ball, but not at FF. Playing in a team with horrid delivery, he started to go ball chasing as it never hit him on the chest.

To say he was completely crap his whole career, would just be stupid.

Been destroyed by senior coach. Very simple.

Coach who hates all forwards with a passion. Who only knows anything about defence.

Lynch should never ever of been moved from his role from FF after 05/06, but no we have to have every player be able to play every position.

he would be fine at every other club but his confidence has now been destroyed, he has lost his appetite at west coast and its only a bunch of mugs who don't rate him that loved him just a few years back. How fickle can you be and it goes with the West Coast board on BF.

No matter what your midfield is you just don't kick 60 odd goals ina flag season if you can't play. Barry Hall just kicked 70 odd in a side which just came 4th and I bet you many on here would think we could do with a Barry hall type.

Lynch is finished at west coast and that is a shame, his coach has no interest or knowledge of forwards and never will have. Kennedy will follow the same path a swill all the rest of them while our coach is who it is.

Lecras will stand out because he is an A Grade player and they stand out at all clubs.

Lynch, Mckinley, Wilson and any other forward should be trying their hardest to get the **** away from our club so they can have a career. Stay here and you will only fail to meet your god given ability. That is the sad fact of the situation.

and interest rates have been going up too, Bloody Worsfold.
GWS you really have got issues.

and another thing GWS, it's clear as mud to everyone that Hansen and Lynch would have been bloody coleman medalist winners at any other AFL club - if only they had a better coach!
Maybe you should be happy with the fact that Worsfold got the best out of 2 average AFL forwards in Lynch and Hansen and won us another premiership.
How many goals would Fevola have kicked if he had Judd, Cousins and Kerr ramming the ball down his throat, my guess would be 120 twice that of lynch.

Probably, but would we have wanted such a big focal point as a forward? Would Cuzzy, Judd, Kerr have lowered the eyes to look for the A-grade forward instead of winding up and kicking goals from the midfield if that were the case?

Are you saying that the lesser quality forward we had the better we would have performed?

With the exact same amount of inside 50 entries and same amount kicked to him probably not that much more. May of taken a couple of more marks and converted a bit better. Probably get about 80.

Fev would have probably kicked about the same

Most teams in 2006 used a heavy flood against us. Lynch was very usefull due to his long kicking. (He was kicking accurately back then).

Really hope he turns it around next year as he has been a very usefull player fulfilling a variety of rolesgi
