Okay say I got a PS4 pro recently and am unsure how to get hdr working on it fully, any tips. I have a Sony x800d

First double check which HDMI ports on the TV support HDR, also make sure the cable is capable. After that turn it on from the TV setup. Some TVs it as simple as looking for HDR and enabling it, on others it might be called "UHD" under the HDMI content type. It varies from brand to brand.
From there in the PS4 video settings just make sure the resolution is set to either 2160 RGB or automatic and you should be able to select set HDR to automatic. To check that it's all sweet you can go to video output information on the PS4 where you will want it to say 2K/4K and HDCP 2.2. If it says that then you're all good to go.
Besides that you will have no indication that HDR is ready to go, it's not something you can force on. Once the TV receives a HDR signal from the Pro it will kick into HDR mode.

With the X800D go to Home--Settings--Enhance HDMI and enable that. I dont think HDMI1 supports it. i havent used this TV much with my Pro yet. this is the TV i have in the bedroom.
You will need to get the picture settings right for you. when playing a game with HDR this TV will pick it up and change some of the settings like putting backlight to full.
Dont have HDR mode turned on, keep it on Auto otherwise you will have the TV trying to upscale everything into HDR color's and the SDR content will look washed out and have the backlight at max.
You can see if HDR is working by pressing Action Menu and going into Picture settings and next to the HDMI input it will say HDR. i dont know why it doesnt show it in the info like Samsung TV's do.

Does that little box you get (the thing you plug all your cords into so you dont have a million cords going to the tv) work with HDR? Samsung S8 Tv...

This box
Yes. that box is how the TV has inputs. the TV doesnt have any HDMI plugs in the back. Its how they can make the TV so thin. and makes it easier for anyone who wall mounts.

Haha. I didn't even look at the back of the TV. Just plugged that in and got it mounted. Are all the ports usable for HDR?

I think so. i know HDMI2 and HDMI3 do. but i have Foxtel in HDMI1 so havent tested it.

Enough that its a pain in the ass. Admittedly, with the way I have set it up I just have to unplug the PSVR and plug it into that box, but sheesh.

Uncharted 4 looks good with the HDR, its kinda limited.
but Ratchet and Clank is amazing in 4K i think it also has HDR.
Both games have some good parts to help you set up the TV with all the color settings how you would like them.
Resogun is getting a 4K HDR pro patch soon.
