you know howard won't be voted off the island, you'll still have to see his face..I hear PM Rudd's looking for a new advisor.
 
Fellow Australians, I have been advised that the election result is a non core result. In an effort to determine a core result, the nation is under military rule until to further notice. All our overseas troops will be immediately brought home to insure peace is kept. Tomorrow morning Mr Kevin Rudd will be detained as a usurper of the power her majesty has invested in me at the last election and held for the term of his natural life. Peter Costello likewise. Janette, cook breakfast.

Are you suggesting that Keating, Kimbo and Latham were genuine in their "graciousness" during their concession speeches, but Howard will not be?

I imagine they'd have been seething underneath, and I imagine Howard will be much the same. Let's be honest ,12 years on and Keating still has not got the bitterness of defeat out of his system.

You're right about Keating and Latham. I think Kimbo actually WAS gracious in defeat, both times ; maybe his problem was that it took until the concession speech for him to speak with any genuine emotion and spontaneity, he tended to let his minders restrain him too much during the campaigns.

But yes, I do believe that any humility or grace that Howard might display will be an act. He is good at maintaining the 'decent bloke' facade, but his hatred of the other side is no less visceral than Keating's or Latham's.

Okay - I'll have a crack at the speech. Not the best speech writer but, here goes.

My fellow Australians.

Tonight I stand before a humble, but, beaten man.

I have just spoken on the phone with Mr. Rudd, congratulating himself and his team on their election win.

I can reflect on the past 11 and a half years with great pride in what my team and I have done for the country. We have achieved a lot, under very difficult and trying circumstances.

But, I know that Mr. Costello and his team will be making sure Mr. Rudd delivers what he has said he will do.

Johnny will be blubbering inconsolably in the corner. Janette will prove what we have all known and show she was the real leader anyway.

Her concession speech will be the greatest ever. First target will be about how big a traitor Costello is and how Tanya did not have the class to be first lady. Next targets of her venom will be Malcolm Turncoat, Malcolm Easter Island statue, Jeff K..n.tt, John Hewson and Peter Dedman. Finally she will accuse her fellow Australians of disloyalty and wish them to hell under Labor rule. The word Rudd will not even be mentioned.
