What the f*&k is going on" (fact). I would be very worried....very worried

You can't tell me Geelong are really a 96 point better side than us? It was by no means a "masterstroke" to get rolled by 96 points, but I did see us pretty much give up by half time.

As to say we should be worried? Please, If we get smashed by west coast this week, then we get worried. It was Round 24 last week, its a new season as of now.

Your gameplan actually doesnt work against geelong. A forward press wont work against an opposition who goes quick through the middle. it puts you in a one on one situation with the more skilled geelong players to take advantage of the out of positioned slow collingwood defenders. Were collingwood trying in round 8 this year?????? if they were it was the exact same outcome as the round 24 game except for the scoreboard. was round 8 a dead rubber??? 130 inside 50s to geelong this year against collingwood thats is INSANE. and a measley 70 inside 50's to collingwood. Will interesting to see how bad leon davis will choke this year in a final seeing that he chokes every final game. hope ur skipper who cant hit a target comes in aswell. Im sure his teamates find great inspiration on watching their captain fail whenever he goes near a footy.;) The whole of australia know collingwood are going to use the forward press a.k.a their only trick. Geelong know what to expect.
The whole of Australia knew it last year too - especially Geelong - now THAT went rather well didn't it sunshine

Careful you don't trip over something - that happens a lot to people who are whistling in the dark instead of watching where they are going

Don't pin your hopes on any of Mick's antics. No doubt we stuffed up the game - just cruising, we get behind, suddenly by a few goals, and the lads intuit that it's time to back off. The prize isn't worth chasing.

Because this mind-set affected so many in the team, it looked bad; but don't make the mistake of judging the Pies by that carry-on. There'll be no quarter given when next we meet.

Im so glad collingwood know to give up because geelong hasnt learnt that trick yet hahahaha. Only weak minded teams give up because it all just gets to hard. They could have used that game to learn how to catch up. What would happen in a grandfinal if geelong were up by 50 points again at half time. I would probabaly expect the maggies to give up because they definantely know how to. All the people sitting around the box heard mick say "what the f%$k is going on" middle of the second quarter. does that sound like his masterplan was working. DONT THINK SO ahah

Yes Geelong has us worked out, we are only one trick pony who cannot improvise, its only Geelong who can do that.

I might email the club to get them to see the tapes of the Geelong V Essendon game, or Sydney game or maybe the Wce games. I recall Geelong's skill and playing through the corridor not working that day.

Can you confirm?

We played much better against you in round 8 and still could easily have won. So what is your point exactly? I forgot. Oh that's right, you don't have one. You simply like to excrete feces from your face.

How dare you attack a member of an opposition team in that manner, it makes us all look bad, think before you post in future.

The point of Mick's master plan will only become evident when next the Cats face the Pies.:thumbsu::D

I respect Cats, but you talk outta your butt.

(1) Evidence that Mick Malthouse said what he did, because if none, then I have a "rumour" also... Apparently Chris Scott was heard saying "Pies are tanking... phew!"

See? I can do the same thing.

(2) Mick Malthouse is KNOWN all around the league as a "hard-a**".... brutal when telling his players off, hence he tends to have players who are MIGHTY discipline... No Heroes... He sees someone putting a half-as effort he yanks them off, blast them, and puts them on the VFL side as punishment.... they have to re-prove themselves and commitment again...

Moral is... Pies players are one of the LEAST likely players to "give up" without a direction from him.

(3) I do agree that Cats have a working method, and only way for Pies to overcome that is to shut down the ball carriers and possession getters from the MIDFIELD.... which would be HIGHLY difficult... but not impossible.

Take things personal much? Serious overreaction.

Not at all. It's simply my opinion that arrogant one eyed supporters (Not to be confused with passionate supporters) are ignorant muppets that make fellow supporters look bad. This is a discussion forum for opinions after all ain't it? ;)

I'm glad you see things my way. :)

If it was a masterstroke by MM would he be shouting 'what the f&$k is going on". half way through the 2nd term?????

Did you just quote and reply to one of your own posts?

I think someone has been granted internet access on account of turning 13 and becoming a big boy ;)

What we can do to Geelong is what we did last year in the prelim.

Bombard the ball carrier force them around the bounday line and block off the centre corridor.
Put huge amounts of pressure run and carry in packs we can;t lose.

The thing is with the forward press it's very taxing, that's why we played preserve footy last friday night.

It will be lock down this saturday, week off then bring on the next chumps.

In all seriousness Geelong many not even be in the prelims. They lose to Hawthorn and the last team I'd want to be playing is St. Kilda or even Sydney. Both play 'finals footy' and their intensity could trouble the Cats. I'm nervous and confident at the same time.

I'm confident we can win the premiership, but nervous at the same time because so many things can happen in that time. I know if we play at 100% we'll win, but lets just hope we can! :)

A massive over-emphasis being put on Geelong since last week. Geelong have been equally, the best side this year. Nothing really changed there, and they are no more or less dangerous an opponent than they were a fortnight ago.

It's all still down to the boys. It's in their hands and has been since week 1.

It's simply a case of the rest of the world looking for a saviour from Magpie dominance PE :D

I wouldnt be so confident if i were you and like you said stats never lie. Heres a few facts of the 2 game played against geelong this year.

Collingwood

goals (r8) = 9 behinds= 8 scoring shots = 17 inside 50s =42
goals (r24) = 8 behinds= 5 scoring shots =13 inside 50s=35

Total= 17 goals, 13 behinds, 30 scoring shots and 77 inside 50's

Geelong

(r8) goals= 8 behinds=17 scoring shots= 25 inside 50s= 62
(r24) goals=7 behinds= 17 scoring shots = 39 inside 50s= 68

Total= 30 goals, behinds=34, scoring shots= 64 and inside 50s =130

Have a look at the inside 50's DOUBLING. I think if magpies stick to their current structures which were designed agsint geelong to over use the handball they will lose. Have a look at another stat that doesnt lie the handball kick ratio was heavily favouring the kick for geelong. Geelong have worked out if you use the ball the quickest route down the ground against a press and kick long to a one on one then they will back themselves with their kicking skills and speed. Geelong is the only team in the comp that has the skills to go through the middle all the time because they have the class and skill to hit their targets. If you guys think your versing the geelong team you guys beat in the finals last year think again. Geelong have worked out your gameplan is using it themselves and has modified their game not to overuse the ball.

In conclusion i would be very worried for collingwood if they have to play against a team that beat them by 100 points. Confidence is everything in football and mick malthouse would be a fool to think their confidence wasnt shattered after a loss like that. People say MM stayed cool as a cucumber after the press conference after the game! ofcourse he is going to act like that. If he panicked in his press conference his playing group will lose even more confidence if they face geelong again.

And i know people will say yeah they have lost in their last round since 2006! but when they lose against their main rival by 100 points. Not good !!!!

Yep, ur exactly right. Geelong have owned us twice.
Ur the only team who has done it.

however... Geelong is the ONLY side collingwood has lost to.
Geelong are faced with the fact that there are 3 teams in the top 8 that they have lost to. And another 2 which have come within 4 points of them.

Well said - glad that you have come up with a reason for last week's loss - I certainly couldn't figure out what had happened - thanks
