With Jarrod coming back i feel we will be much more competitive, where do people rate Waite in our best players?

I personally rate him in our top 3 at his best

Potential top 3 but no way near their yet.

He needs to get more consistancy and string more games together till we can judge where he stands.

A definite future star if we can keep him on the park and level headed.

Kouta and Waite to return, Bryan too SURELY come in.

3 big inclusions, should be a Krakour!

I reckon waite could be in our top 3, just needs to get on the park a bit more. Personally for me our top 5 are:

1) Brendan Fevola
2) Lance Whittnal
3) Heath Scotland
4) Kade Simpson
5) Jarryd Waite

Thats a fair enough top 5 at the moment. I think Waite will move up ahead of Scotland and Whitnall in the near future. Interesting that Nick Stevens not in there, i wouldnt have him in there either at the moment.

With Murphy and J Kennedy, fish (Gibbs/Gumbleton/Hanson) to add we will soon have the nucleas of a good side.

Currently:

1. Brendan Fevola
2. Lance Whitnall
3. Nick Stevens
4. Marc Murphy
5. Kade Simpson
6. Heath Scotland
7. Bret Thornton
8. Jarrad Waite/Brad Fisher/Andrew Walker/Ryan Houlihan

He has the potential to be in the top 3 but potential means jack squat in the end.

All good bar your selection at no. 3. He just hasnt done enough this year. For a "leader" i think h is too soft at the clearances, and has turned the ball over a lot this year. On skill, he is right up there, but this year, he is not our 3rd most important players.

Steven rep is hurt by the expectations placed on his shoulders. Players like Marc Murphy who weren't expected to do a great deal this year is rated as a star while Stevens is seen as having a poor year just because he's older and a senior member of the team, even if the reality is that Stevens has had a far superior year (than Marc). Stevens has been disappointing this year I agree but he's still one of our best players.

Regardless he's still ahead of Waite.

Agree completely. Stevens has been good, not as good as we'd like but one of our best.

Should be a very interesting and entertaining match.

Absolutely, at least both teams have a clear chance or expectation of winning. I don't understand why a game like next week wouldn't attract a large crowd. Sadly it will be around the 30,000 mark.

I think you could be surprised. I think there may be a fair bit of intrest i'll take a stab and guess 45-50k.

Stevens is our leading clearance player (14th in the AFL) so how can he be soft at the clearances?

Big call that gandaal. Wouldn't have thought he'd done enough to be in our top 10.

For mine, it would be:

1. Fevola
2. Whitnall
3. Simpson
4. Stevens
5. Scotland
6. Waite (When fit)
7. Murphy
8. Houlihan
9. Walker
10. Lappin

That's only because you expect him to be a full back. He's not. He's not big enough and he never will be, but what he has done in defense as a second or third defender rebounding from defense has been excellent this season. Whitnall joining him in defense has freed him from having to do everything single handedly and he's thrived as a result.

Our defensive issues this season from what I've seen watching in the stands (rather than watching on TV) have resulted more from a lack of defensive pressure and run in the midfield then any serious fault with our defenders. When the ball is getting constantly bombed to the goal square, and players of Abletts ilk are allowed to run freely into our forward 50 (which wasn't Walkers fault btw) there's only so much defenders can do.
